Over 14.6 million Malaysians have enjoyed subsidised RON 95 petrol under the Budi Madani RON 95 (Budi95) programme as of February 11, second finance minister Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan has revealed, according to a Bernama report. The system currently processes 3.1 million transactions a day on average (it’s capable of 43.2 million).

“Through Budi95, the public receives RON 95 at RM1.99 per litre directly at the pump, with no new registration or complicated procedures required. The use of MyKad as an eligibility verification mechanism for targeted subsidies has proven effective and practical,” Amir Hamzah said today in parliament, adding that it also reduces leakages to non-citizens.

According to another Bernama report, prime minister and finance minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said yesterday that Budi95 is expected to save at least RM2.5 billion this year, subject to movements in global crude oil prices and exchange rates. He revealed in December that the government has saved RM800 million since the programme began on September 30, 2025.

We’ve enjoyed four months of Budi95 already – as of November 30, 13.9 million out of 16.55 million eligible Malaysians (84%) bought 2.59 billion litres of RON 95 petrol at the subsidised RM1.99 a litre (RM5.16 billion total). The latest number, as revealed above, is 14.6 million, so the penetration rate has now passed 88%. First and second month statistics here.

Stupid PH program has benefited PH even more by making rakyat frust to use the system thereby many just couldnt be bothered and rather pay the full price, so these savings konon actually goes into PH mentri pockets.

Down with PH and we can down with this stupid system. Subsidy should be automatic for all rakyat Malaysia, not for donate to other rakyats!

Since this BUDI95 started, I have been talking to the people who work at these petrol stations of various different brands. In general, they say that there were customers who complained in the beginning but later have quiet down as they got used to system’s procedure. So, please don’t simply make up wild stories without showing proof of any wrong doing. Probably, you yourself are not really a local citizen & thus not eligible for BUDI95.

it cannot be automatic unless you also intend to automatically subsidize 1. white-collar expats working in malaysia who drive malaysian car, and also 2. malaysian who drive singapore or thailand registered car.

all malaysian citizens who hold NRIC and pay using local bank credit card should be entitled to pump RON95 Budi95 and entitled to equal rights and opportunity.
    full stop.
its morally wrong for govt to discriminate based on each citizens car registration number plate. whats next, discriminating based on race or ethnicity, oh wait.

Since the system used now is proven to work, then i suggest to float RON 95 price by allowing petrol station owner to set the price.
Relax…..this shall only be done whenever those whom wants to fill up does not provide IC for verification Those with IC still falls under current system, quota, and price.
Plus point will be no more the endless posts about foreign vehicle pumping RON95. We can move on to other matter.

that also wont work because white-collar expats who work in malaysia pay tax to LHDN drive malaysian car , still wont be entitled to budi95. is that fair?

No, the BUDI95 benefit the government from reducing the maximum subsidization for each Malaysian Driver (compare to the past). I agree we reduce subsidization will be better for future Malaysia, so the one who has spending power (to purchase “more” fuel) need to pay more. But please don’t make it sound like helping the rakyat.
