Proton has announced its sales numbers for April 2026, with the automaker saying it shifted a total of 18,156 vehicles across its ICE, EV and PHEV model range last month. This is a 15.6% – or 2,450 units – increase over the 15,706 units it delivered in March.
The numbers last month brings its year-to-date (YTD) sales figure to 67,298 units, which is 40.9% up from the year-on-year sales volume from the same period in 2025. It also keeps the company on track to achieve its 200,000 sales target for this year. Based on these numbers, the company estimated that its market share for April to be 25%, while its YTD percentage of the market is forecast to be at 26.4%.
In terms of model specific numbers, the brand’s ICE models continue to power the brand forward. As usual, the Saga MC3 led the way, with 8,207 units shifted last month, representing a 50.9% – or 2,769 units – increase over the 5,438 units sold in March. This brings the YTD sales total for the first four months up to 29,977 units, which is an increase of 42.8% over 2025.
The S70 MC1 continued to plug away in the same vein as the month before, with 2,377 units sold in April (2,254 units in March), bringing the YTD total for the sedan to 8,175 units. Meanwhile, 2,603 units of the X50 facelift were sold in April to bring its YTD total to 10,174 units, keeping the model’s status as the best-selling SUV in its segment intact.
Elsewhere, sales of the X90 MC hit 462 units last month, up by 43% (or 139 units) from the 322 units sold in March. The automaker said that on the whole, sales for the updated seven-seat D-segment SUV are up by 28.1% compared to the previous year.
On the electric front, the automaker reported that a total of 3,420 units of its EV and PHEV models were sold last mohth, bringing the YTD total for its electrified models to 11,664 units for the first four months of the year. Sales of the eMas 5 amounted to 1,771 units, bringing the model’s YTD total to 8,473 units., while 636 units of the eMas 7 EV were delivered in April to bring its YTD total to 1,436 units.
The biggest mover for the eMas range was the eMas 7 PHEV. In its second full month of sales, 1,013 units were delivered, and to date, 1,755 units have been shifted this year, with the automaker saying that the numbers are expected to climb in the coming months as supply ramps up to meet market demand.
“Overall, we are on the right path to achieve our targets for 2026 and with more launches and new initiatives in the pipeline for this year and the next few years beyond, Proton hopes to be able to position itself as the best choice for Malaysian car buyers as well as the country’s leading export OEM,” said Proton Edar CEO Datuk Abdul Rashid Musa.

Under Madani proton saga and X90 prices going down the wazoo because of his election promise to lower car prices. He kept his promise so he must be reelected!
I now feel better
it is in the genes of the type C that they have the midas touch. if they were to govern malaysia, it will grow like proton and we will be the Asian Tiger again.
1. How many units have proton exported? Why is this not imposed on proton?
2. How many public DC chargers have proton installed? Being the best selling EVs, proton has the duty to install chargers..
Proton’s 200k target? Honestly, that’s quite small,
When thirty million rakyat are waiting for the call.
Everyone’s itching for a brand new ride,
With the latest tech and a sense of pride.
We want the best features without the long wait,
To upgrade our lifestyle and keep the tech great.
I just received a new Saga… Within 3 damn weeks… the power window.. Needs Arnold Schwarzenegger to give a push up. China cars with the old DRB bunch of vendors, still have a long way to go. The engine is Geely’s.. But other parts r still DRB old bunch of unrepentant vendors.
Proton owners are chill, their cars run just fine,
But clearly, they haven’t changed your mind.
The power window joke is old, we all know the story,
But supply chain issues are still blocking the glory.
The Saga 1.5iGT is solidly wanted, more powerful and comfortable up to 7 years warranty, better than the rest in its class.
If they want that top-tier spot and to really go far,
They need to fix the supply chain, not just the car.
Saga MC3 still on right track, great! a quick analysis of S70 segments. the april figures is about 2.4k with YTD 8.2k. that is over 4 mths. so averaging about 2.1k per month. The underlying technology and build of S70 is a mature product. However the volume it can reach is still limited to 2.1k/mth… that goes to show why proton cannot invest in developing a specific model just for this segment. the volume it just too small. the period to achieve breakeven will be more than 5 yrs! so rebadge or using Geely model is right choice of decision for proton in this segment. the downside of this approach is that, proton may have difficulty to export this model.
nevertheless, proton’s ability to expand market to neighbouring marker is still almost nothing. strangely proton cannot even make it’s presence felt in thailand or indonesia. that’s the challenge proton face until today after so many year of being an independent car maker.
