Budi95: Petrol station attendant fined RM10,000 for misuse of MyKads to buy subsidised RON95 petrol

A petrol station attendant of foreign nationality was fined RM10,000 by the magistrate’s court following a guilty plea for the misuse of two MyKads for the purchase of subsidised RON 95 petrol under the Budi Madani RON 95 scheme, New Straits Times has reported.

The attendant was charged with two counts of possessing and misusing the MyKads of two individuals, without valid authority or legitimate reason to hold another person’s identification card. The charges were framed under Rule 25(1)(o) of the National Registration Regulations, which carries a maximum RM20,000 fine or a jail term up to three years or both upon conviction.

According to the report, investigations found that one of the victims had found that their subsidised petrol quota had dropped from 94.9 litres to 44.6 litres, leading to suspicion of MyKad misuse. After contacting the Budi Madani Contact Centre, the MyKad holder was informed that five suspicious transactions had been made at a petrol station using her MyKad, which she had lost.

Last month, JPN director-general Datuk Badrul Hisham Alias had said that the MyKad is an official identification document that cannot be used, held or represented by another individual. Separately, where a MyKad holder misused their Budi95 eligibility to fill subsidised RON 95 petrol into containers, the finance ministry acted to block the identity card involved, from continuing to be eligible for Budi95.

subsidised ron95 is meant for malaysian citizens to purchase & to be used in malaysian registered vehicles, not for foreigners & foreign registered vehicles.

    • Are you stupid? The operator misused lost/stolen MyKad. The MyKad citizen did not benefit from it, but rather they lost their quota.
