March 2026 Malaysian vehicle sales up by 21% – MAA

The Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA) has released vehicle sales data for the month of March 2026, reporting that a total of 63,489 units units were delivered to buyers last month. This represents an increase of 21.1%, or 11,075 units, from the 52,414 units sold in February.

The association said that although the March volume was relatively low, it reflected a healthy month-on-month recovery and remains broadly within the recent five-year average of approximately 72,000 units. It attributed the moderate sales numbers to shorter working days within the month, brought about by the Hari Raya holidays and temporary plant shutdowns during the festive period.

March’s numbers are 12.95% (or 9,442 units) less than the same month in 2025, where 72,931 units of passenger and commercial vehicles were shifted.

As for the year-to-date (YTD) figure, the 2026 total with the first quarter completed stands at 182,113 units sold, which is 3.35% behind the corresponding period in 2025, when 188,432 units were delivered. The association said it expects sales to consolidate in April.

For those smart enough would notice that compare to same period last year, March had posted a reduction of 13% drop in terms of passenger car sales and 19% reduction in passenger car production.

    Not good.

Refer to Jonathan James Tan’s article dated 20th January 2026, which reports that the 2025 new car sales TIV in Malaysia had hit a record 820752 units. The article also mentions that among the factors which the Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA) attributes this performance to, are robust economic growth (GDP +4.7% in first three quarters of 2025), strong domestic demand, recovering exports, favourable financing (2.75% OPR since July), socio-political stability and a 2.9% unemployment rate (an 11-year low). However now, due to the still unresolved tensions & conflicts in West Asia, every country including Malaysia is facing uncertainties in the global economy.

For those smart enough would notice that compare to same period last year, March 2025 , Maduro was still leader in venezuela and khomeini was still leader in Iran and Hormuz sea was still open.

Malaysians love to buy overpriced cars, MITI cronies thank you. Meanwhile, road and traffic condition become worsen day by day. Also road ethics have become bad, JPJ and PDRM enforce nothing as long as you pay for their coffee. GG
