Sabah, Sarawak, Labuan land freight transport to get SKDS Subsidised Diesel Control Scheme fleet cards

The use of diesel fleet cards will be expanded to Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan for land freight transport, said deputy prime minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, reported The Star. “The government will expand the SKDS using fleet cards for the land transport sector in Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan,” he said.

These measures would be implemented under the Subsidised Diesel Control Scheme (SKDS), according to Fadillah, who is also minister of energy transition and water transformation. Several strategic recommendations will be submitted to the National Economic Action Council (MTEN), and these will be submitted regularly to ensure the stability of the nation’s energy supply, he said.

“We are aware that [the Middle East situation] has great potential to affect the world’s supply chain and trigger instability in the prices of energy and essential goods. The government will not let the people be affected by supply disruptions,” Fadillah said.

“We have strengthened our preparedness through strategic and integrated measures to ensure that the security of supply in the local market remains under control,” the deputy prime minister said.

Earlier this week, domestic trade and cost of living minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali said that the monthly allocation for the Subsidised Diesel Control Scheme (SKDS) is estimated to have gone up to RM2.2 billion in March. This surge in expenditure was driven by escalating global diesel prices. the KPDN minister said.
