Mat rempits in Kelantan pulling stunts in front of Sultan Ismail Petra Airport (LTSIP) in Pengkalan Chepa, Kota Bharu, has drawn the ire of Malaysian transport minister Anthony Loke. Describing the actions of these road hooligans as “sad and embarrassing”, Loke said the behaviour of these mat rempit, “not only endangers the lives of airport users, but can also be seen as a form of sabotage against the state’s safety and economy.”
As reported in The Malay Mail, Loke has instructed JPJ to carry-out large-scale enforcement operations in the area. Loke also urged Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB) to tighten control over entry and exit routes to the terminal building to prevent such incidents from recurring.
The new departure hall at the LSTIP terminal has been in operation for a month and has seemingly been turned into a racetrack by local mat rempit. The illegal activities were said to have begun in Ramadan and reached a height last Friday night when videos of such activities were recorded by airport users and circulated on social media.

There should be a law allowing Police to shoot bikes at sight. Bloody menace, parasites.
Came here just to say this.
Many years ago some minister said want to build race track Circus for these bright future youths KEK
Yep.Shoot the rempiting legs..not spine.
If u charge the drunken driver for murder, why cant u charge all rempits for premeditated murder..since they know in advance, that they r capable of killing innocent people in 5 mad seconds. After all ,have u heard of any drunken rempit?
All mat rempits ,r usually not drunk..a few only on dadah.
Either way, they r killers on the loose.
And why let the parents go off scot free, for loaning the keys to the killer machines?Hello,Ahlokekor..get PDRM charge the parents as well.Jail father and son.
Wah! If like that, I hope the motor insurance companies will introduce coverage against stray bullets.
Keep the bikes at least 12 months before allowing release. That will teach them a lesson. Or two.Especially the loud noise.. really a nuisance.
Crush the bikes la. Baru sakit and change behaviour. Same with all the wannabe racers. Crush their cars.
they may steal other people’s bikes to satisfy their need to race..
PDRM should more often cracked down all this illegal bikes, its really annoying and irritating….should also impose heavy penalties including jail.
It won’t work here. Heavy penalties? They don’t have money to pay (ironically they have money to pump gas and modify their bikes). Jail time? Jail real estate will be over run – not enough to accommodate them. Confiscate their bike? The authorities won’t have space to keep them. PDRM/JPJ will just do some crack down for a couple of weeks/months (issuing bogus fines) just to wayang and then everything will be back to square one in no time. Traffic laws don’t apply to them. Hidup mat rempit! Hidup mat motor!
Sad & Embarrassing – the default setting for any PuAS run state.
As a Kelantanese, this is truly embarassing and I hope the airport management and the authorities will impose strict enforcement to eradicate these jobless scums.
the new ECRL will enabled these jobless scums to easily travel to klang valley and distrub the peace and harmony here, and ECRL was the idea of which former PM ?
Shame such a brand new and modern airport being overrun with ungrateful people who do not appreciate such new facilities.
Why embarrasing? U should be angry n lobby for harsher punishment.
In China, the police pre emptively round up all the rempits,in unmarked vans..no one knows whether they end up near Ulan bator or the Russian siberian border camps.
Rempits r like dadah addicts,,they must be locked up under a rehab programme for years.
Me as a citizen who drove car alongwith motorcycle and lorries also sad and embarrassed with ministry of transport whereby those mabuk still can be drive and causing accidents like this country is no LAW at all
Even those who are not mabuk or high on drugs also run the red lights, u turn at no u-turn signs, overtake at double lines, go in opposite direction against traffic flow, enter through no entry signs, etc. They all know that the country has got laws, but they chose to break them for their own selfish reasons. The problem here is poor attitude, most likely due to the lack proper parental guidance.
thats funny because so many more accidents caused by lorry drivers high on drugs, but why nonone complain about this ?
mabuk or bad driving attitude is rakyat punya culture problem la. nothing to do with ministry!!!
it is driver’s decision to drive or not to drive after drinking. it is up to rider to be mat rempit or not to be. it is more of societies attitude towards this culture and not government. Kelantan government want to be strict but look at the amount of diesel and fuel smuggling across the border thru kelantan state! Horrendous! this smuggling culture is not something government can control. there will be attempt but a good healthy and honest culture is a better measure
PDRM lazy to catch these rempit becoz they r bunch or poor shyt… no money.. like to catch speeding and drunk drive becoz of … lah…
quality of YB really can tell majority of the voters in a specific area of election
We all know there will be no action taken by the gov against mat rempit, if have also it will be for show. Due to more than 50% of their voter based is made up of motorcyclist and mat rempits.
No politician will do that as it will be politically suicide. Only the motorcyclists group of people can change this.
Sad guess the head will just blame this blame that all is good there very good.
These mat rempit action is a challenge to law enforcement. It is sad and embarrassing that local enforcement can’t do anything about it. As for the parents, why let you kids out like this?
As usual, lack of enforcement…what else. Try doing that in S’pore…gerrenti fine / jail terus!
Not mabuk also behave like this, imagine when drunk
tulah puak tu yg anak baik orangnya
sad and embarrassing, yes we hear you, minister. But what action planned to eradicate these viruses? for far too many years, these type of riders had been given the “get out of jail” card. ride a bike and you’re almost exempt from traffic laws. malaysians are not blind.
Berpuluh tahun isu yg sama. Apa tindakan tegas pd golongan ini?
