2026 Yamaha Tenere 700 in Malaysia, RM58,998

First unveiled at the end of 2024, the latest variant of the Yamaha Tenere 700 is now in Malaysia, priced at RM58,998. Pricing does not include road tax, insurance or registration and every Tenere 700 comes with a two-year or 20,000 km warranty against manufacturing defects.

Updates and upgrades, foremost of which is the Yamaha Blue colour scheme, taken from the Rally version of the Tenere and fitted to the standard model variant. Other updates include body panels, including the windshield, tank, LED headlights and seat.

Also new is Yamaha’s YCC-T ride-by-wire throttle, giving the Tenere 700 switchable traction control, as well as two ride modes – Sport and Explorer. As previously, the Tenere 700 comes with switchable ABS, settable for front-and-rear wheels, front only, or off, controlled by a switch located at the side of the new 6.3-inch TFT screen that features smartphone connectivity.

Meter functions are controlled by a joystick switch on the left handlebar, similar to the unit on the MT-07. In the handling department, the Tenere 700 gets 43 mm diameter upside-down forks, now improved with preload adjustment, aside from compression and rebound, while the rear monoshock is fully-adjustable.

Suspension travel is 210 mm in front and 200 mm in the rear, while seat height remains the same at 875 mm. Ground clearance is a generous 240 mm while the fuel tank capacity is the same as previous at 16-litres.

Ergonomics has seen some revision with with a new, thinner clutch cover that does not interfere with the rider’s foot as well as foot pegs that are wider and longer. Meanwhile, no changes in the engine room, with power coming from a parallel-twin displacing 689 cc, along with a six-speed gearbox.

The engine produces 73.4 PS at 9,000 rpm with 68 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm, via a new intake tract and revised gearbox ratios. Wheel sizing on the Tenere 700 is 21-inches in front and 18-inches at the back.

Braking is done with twin Brembo callipers on the front wheel with 282 mm diameter discs, and a single 245 mm discs on the rear wheel. Overall weight of the Tenere 700 is 208 kg.
