Lebuhraya Kajang-Seremban (LEKAS) has announced that it will be implementing Smart Lane measures on selected stretches of the highway as a proactive traffic management initiative in order to mitigate traffic congestion during peak hours in the morning and evening.

With approval from the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) and the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), the Smart Lane activation will commence tomorrow, February 12, 2026, the highway operator has stated.

Smart Lane activation on the highway will be carried out in both northbound and southbound directions. In the northbound direction, the Smart Lane will be from KM1.0 to KM0.1, which is from the Kajang Selatan (LEKAS) interchange to the Kajang Perdana (SILK) interchange towards Putrajaya (first diagram, above).

In the southbound direction, Smart Lane activation will be from KM0.0 to KM0.4, which is from the Kajang Perdana interchange (SILK) to the Kajang Selatan interchange (LEKAS) (second diagram).

This is to increase the lane capacity through the activation of the Smart Lane sections to optimise existing space on the highway to improve traffic flow, the highway operator stated.

As with prior instances of Smart Lane activation, both Smart Lane locations on the highway temporarily make use of the emergency lane as additional lanes. These will be furnished with “Smart Lane Mula” (Smart Lane begins) and “Smart Lane Tamat” (Smart Lane ends) signage, and early notification signage.

A green LED light will be switched on when the Smart Lane is activated within the stated hours of between 6am to 9pm daily, and switched off when the stretch is not activated, and reverts to its original purpose that is the emergency lane.

Highway users are advised to heed the instructions of all signage, to allow ample time to enter the correct lane for one’s intended destination, and to keep to one’s chosen lane to the destination of choice, particularly during peak traffic hours to ensure smooth and safe traffic flow.
