The Kuala Lumpur road and transport department (KL JPJ) continues to clamp down on luxury vehicles without a valid road tax and/or insurance, with the latest “catch” being a Bentley Continental GT.
According to a post on KL JPJ’s official Facebook page as well as a report by NST, the driver of the Bentley is a businesswoman was stopped during ‘Ops Khas Luxury’ at Jalan Tun Razak on Sunday (February 8, 2026).
KL JPJ director Hamidi Adam revealed the vehicle’s road tax and insurance had expired since 2018. “Investigations found the luxury vehicle’s road tax and insurance had not been renewed for eight years. The woman claimed she overlooked the matter as her family members had previously handled all renewals and documentation for her,” he said.
Further inspections revealed the woman also did not possess a competent driving licence (CDL), which resulted in the woman being detained while the vehicle was seized under the Road Transport Act 1987 for further action.
Looking to sell your car? Sell it with Carro.

Lembu boleh beli tapi itu tali tak boleh beli..
Fines in total amount of the back-pay from the point of the roadtax’s expiry, plus compounding interest based on the class of the car (a Bentley would be pricier than an Axia).
Let’s see just how many will “forget” to pay their roadtax then.
how is this possible? someone pls share what is the secret to not paying roadtax and still able to be on the road!

No hal lah…
Compared to the savings over 8 years on roadtax and insurance plus driving license cost.
Now only pay a small fine and maybe some other towing charges which won’t even come close to 1 year roadtax and insurance cost.
lol… you think this will end the problem or make the owner repent?
Bagus lah….
Why dont jpj seize motorbikes with no road tax, false number plates and driving license?
These luxury car buyers already contributed by paying hefty import taxes and duties and AP’s. On top Of that, our car Insurers are charging exorbitant amount to insure vehicles.
If we buy used car at RM30k say, they want us yo insure for double or more than that.
the point here is that luxury car owners DONT paying hefty import taxes and duties and AP’s. they register the car under langkawi or labuan tax-free, then use the car in peninsular. they also dont bother to renew insurance and roadtax if you bothered tor read the article
Can JPJ put it on auction? i’m interested to buy.
Release the owner/driver names too… Shake can be a powerful driving factor
