A total of 78 luxury vehicles driven by locals and foreigners were seized by the road transport department (JPJ) under Ops Luxury 4.0. The operation was held from December 12, and the vehicle seizures were made for a range of offences including the absence of valid road tax and insurance coverage.
“All the vehicles have been detained and seized for investigation under Section 64(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987,” JPJ director-general Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli said.
The main offences identified during the operation included driving without a valid motor vehicle licence, no insurance coverage, using expired or invalid driving licences, and the use of fake vehicle registration plates, according to The Star.
Ops Luxury 4.0 marked the fourth phase of the nationwide enforcement exercise which began on July 1, according to Aedy Fadly. “Since Ops Luxury began, a total of 705 luxury vehicles have been seized nationwide for various offences,” he said.
One vehicle of note was an Audi A8 that had RM21,710 in unpaid road tax, the highest amount recorded in the current phase of the operation, while another luxury vehicle has not had its road tax renewed since 2021, said the JPJ director-general.
Owners of these vehicles claimed that they had simply forgotten to renew the vehicles’ road tax, the JPJ director-general said. “Vehicle owners may be able to afford luxury cars, but renewing road tax and insurance is not optional. Driving without them poses serious risks to other road users,” he said.

The smug on the faces of JPJ officers. Can I remind you the failure to catch these people earlier is due to your own incapabilities! Enforcement is a joke!
More like cronies protect cronies also with an under RM
Road tax for big capacity engines are ridiculous. If it us capped at say RM3000 per year, which is a fair rate, i think most would pay as exotic cars are only used occasionally.
if it was capped at 3k then guess what, they still wont pay road tax because the insurance costs a lot more than 3k.
the T1 last time used to drive their supercar with impunity without paying roadtax/insurance. only Loke was brave enough to seize these criminals cars . all other ministers including Wee did not dare.
What about motorbikes without road tax? please seize those also. A real menace
Could Hardly Drive 100 times a year.
So, Paying Fines a lot CHEAPER.
