The fourth-generation Nissan X-Trail has been launched during this year’s Thailand International Motor Expo, a few months after the T33-generation SUV went on sale in Indonesia. Like in the latter country, Thailand is getting the latest X-Trail with an e-Power hybrid powertrain with e-4ORCE all-wheel drive and three-row seating.
Arriving as a fully-imported (CBU) SUV, the X-Trail e-Power is offered in a sole variant that retails for 1.699 million baht (about RM220k), which is a higher starting price when compared to rivals like the Honda CR-V e:HEV that is between 1.399 million and 1.729 million baht (RM181k and RM223k).
For more context, the Hyundai Santa Fe is also a hybrid in Thailand and is from 1.599 million to 1.749 million baht (RM207k to RM226k), while the Kia Sorento is offered as a plug-in hybrid priced much higher at 2.099 million baht (RM271k).
The e-4ORCE all-wheel drive system is made up of two electric motors, with the BM46 unit at the front being rated at 204 PS (201 hp or 150 kW) and 330 Nm of torque. Meanwhile, the rear MM48 unit serves up 136 PS (134 hp or 100 kW) and 195 Nm.
Both are powered by a 1.8-kWh lithium-ion battery that is juiced by petrol engine, which is a KR15DDT 1.5 litre turbocharged inline-three making 144 PS (142 hp or 106 kW) and 250 Nm. The engine acts solely as a generator and does not directly drive the wheels in any way.
For kit, the X-Trail comes with 19-inch alloy wheels, LED headlamps, a hands-free powered tailgate, a panoramic glass roof with powered sunshade, black leather upholstery, powered front seats, a 40:20:40 split-folding second-row bench, a 50:50 split-folding third-row bench, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.8-inch head-up display, a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a nine-speaker Bose sound system, a wireless charging pad and three-zone climate control.
Also on are six airbags, the usual array of passive safety systems, hill start assist, hill descent control as well as a suite of ADAS functions bundled under the 360 Safety Shield umbrella. Available functions include autonomous emergency braking, driver monitoring alert, an around view monitor, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, lane departure warning and high beam assist.
Buyers can choose from a Diamond Black, Storm White and Gun Metallic exterior, with two-tone options being Storm White, Champagne Silver and Stealth Grey that all come with a contrasting black roof. The vehicle and e-Power system are covered for five years or 150,000 km (whichever comes first), while hybrid battery gets its own 10-year/unlimited-mileage warranty.
Will the current-generation X-Trail make its way to Malaysia, given our neighbours have already welcomed it? The SUV was previewed here before but we haven’t heard anything since.

Good write-up. Finishing with question to allow reader’s input than lazy open-ended headline.
X-trail reminds me
Of the very troubling
X-trail hybrid sampah
TC what you waiting for, do all the cutting down in spec like rim size to 17 inch, no sunroof, less safety features and all and bring it here 3 years later.
Continue waiting la…by the time they are here…it’s either too expensive or outdated dy…TC live in a world of their own.
3 years??? Too fast, 5 or 6 years at best.
if TC is smart they would abandon nissan sinking ship entirely and pivot to china cars.
