2026 Subaru Forester priced at RM221,500 in Malaysia, based on official website – 2.5L boxer, EyeSight 4.0

Pricing for the sixth-generation Subaru Forester has appeared on Subaru Malaysia’s official website, around a month after pre-bookings opened for the redesigned SUV. The latest Forester is listed at RM221,500 before on-the-road costs and insurance, which makes it more expensive than the outgoing, top-spec Forester GT Edition EyeSight at RM188,800 (retail price).

UPDATE: Subaru Malaysia has updated its website and removed pricing for the sixth-generation Forester.

No further details are available for now, so the specifications are as per what’s seen in the registration of interest page. The Malaysian-spec Forester will be powered by a 2.5 litre naturally-aspirated four-cylinder boxer petrol engine, which should be rated at 185 PS (182 hp or 136 kW) and 247 Nm of torque. This is mated to Subaru’s Lineartronic CVT and Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system.

Available features include Dual X-Mode, eight airbags, EyeSight 4.0 (with dual stereo cameras, a wide-angle monocular camera and a 360-degree surround view monitor), a wireless charging pad, a 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat and a hands-free power tailgate.

The all-new Forester made its global debut in November 2023 and is built on an enhanced Subaru Global Platform that sees an increase in body rigidity by 10% and body torsional rigidity by 30%. Dimensions are roughly similar, with the SUV measuring 4,655 mm long (+15 mm), 1,830 mm wide (+15 mm), 1,730 mm tall (unchanged) and a wheelbase that spans 2,670 mm (also unchanged).

The general design is also similar to the outgoing model, but with bolder design cues like a larger grille with black inserts, two-tier front lighting, a more rugged-looking front bumper and squared wheel arches with accompanying black cladding.

Inside, the Forester’s redesigned dashboard is in line with other Subaru models, most notably the vertically-oriented infotainment touchscreen that integrates the climate controls, reducing the number of tactile controls on the dash. Other items like the steering wheel and gear selector remain familiar to those who have been in the (now) older Forester.

Want to go off-road??? Recond J200 is your best friend. Proper ladder frame chassis, powerful engine, proper 4WD system, what the J200 have in it’s sleeve basically blows this Forester out of the water, well except for the latest tech and warranty that is.

This is a good car, but it just too steep to swallow at this price without the hybrid.

  • Just bungkus and stay quietly in your warehouse ya. There are plenty of much better choice for price above 200k

Subaru Crosstrek dead for MY soil? Subaru MY bring in this ugly Forester.

2023 Covid Crosstrek isn’t even introduce here… maybe when Subaru began new facelifts then dump into MY soil.

Pretty much gave China Chery and Co. many local options.

  • The 2024 stocks also haven’t clear, both XV and Forester and now this new RM221K unit. This is going to be tougher from here onwards. The CX-60 might be a different car altogether looking at it’s purpose, now looks like a bargain compare to this.

With Yen being weaker than MYR, I would expect the pricing to be more competitive. Even the CX-60 is right under the. 200k mark

Oh boy. Doesn’t take a genius to foresee that this will be a sales failure, just like the overpriced Kia Sorento. These vehicles are good but their distributors price them way beyond any sane person’s appetite.

Japanese legacy auto is not yet responding effectively to the Chinese onslaught. Only Mitsu seems to me coming up with a some proper products like Xforce and Destinator. Even then, these haven’t been launched in Malaysia and if so how much will they cost?
