FIRST DRIVE: Volkswagen Vento 1.2 TSI Highline

The Volkswagen Vento has been on sale for a while now, but we thought it would be a good idea to bring you a new video review of the B-segment sedan, which competes with the Honda City and Toyota Vios for your hard-earned cash. It’s a cutthroat market segment dominated by the Japanese players, and Wolfsburg is taking a second swing at it with what is essentially a facelifted Polo Sedan.

Facelifted it may be, but carries a number of changes under its mildly warmed-over styling. The biggest of which is a new engine option – a new 1.2 litre turbocharged TSI engine from the old fully-imported (CBU) Polo hatch. Replacing the old 1.6 litre naturally-aspirated mill on this Highline model, it makes the same 105 PS as its predecessor, but punches out an extra 22 Nm of torque at 175 Nm.

Sending all that power to the road is, yes, a seven-speed dry dual-clutch transmission. Other new features include stability control for the Highline to join the existing four airbags and ABS, as well as LED headlights and a touchscreen RCD 330G infotainment system introduced last year.

But what’s it like as an everyday proposition? Watch the video above to know more about the new Volkswagen Vento 1.2 TSI Highline, as well as the way it drives. You can also read our written review here, and browse full specifications and equipment on CarBase.my.

105ps, dry clutch, four airbags…..is this a joke?

Next time if want to compete with T & H, think wisely!

Need to smile more, frown less and be less serious looking. Looked so angry so much so that my mood turned sourish after watching. And did I miss anything about fuel consumption?

Have you owned one, Linda? It is extremely well made. Much better quality of build with better quality of plastics and materials compared to T or H or N.

Tested it, it was powerful, well made, better sound proof. But accessories wise, really outdated. And clutch is quite “draggy” or jerky during slow down
