Tesla Model S and Model X receive performance gains

Tesla has introduced several performance upgrades to the Model S and Model X, which come courtesy of new software and hardware rollouts. According to Electrek, only new vehicles being built today will receive the enhancements, and not previously-built vehicles.

For the Model S, the base version Model S 75 and the dual-motor Model S 75D will now accelerate from zero to 96 km/h (60 mph) much quicker than before. The former now does so in just 4.3 seconds (down from 5.5 seconds), while the Model S 75D accomplishes the feat in 4.2 seconds (down from 5.2 seconds).

The Model S 100D also sees a slight improvement in the sprint, setting a new time of 4.1 seconds, which is 0.1 seconds quicker than before.

Moving on, the dual-motor-only Model X also sees a significant improvement in terms of performance. The Model X 75D completes the zero to 96 km/h dash in 4.9 seconds (down from 6.0 seconds), and the Model X 100D will do the same in just 4.7 seconds (down from 5.2 seconds).

The all-electric SUV also gets a new seven-seat configuration, where the second- and third-row seats can be folded flat. The new seat configuration will be a US$3,000 option, and joins the still-available.

Meaning that those who were tricked into buying early in 2017 by the fake “free charging for life” scam are even more screwed as the value of their pre enhancement cars plummets further on the resale market. Loyalty with Tesla is a one way street.
