The Hyundai Elantra GT facelift has been revealed at the 2015 Chicago Auto Show. Slated to go on sale as a 2016 model, the refreshed hatch boasts a revised front fascia, new 17-inch alloy wheels and a raft of optional “customer-focused” features.

In front, the new grille features four horizontal chrome bars, aimed at bringing the car closer in line to the Korean automaker’s ‘Fluidic Sculpture 2.0‘ design language. In profile, the aforementioned new wheels are coupled to a chrome belt-line, while the tail lamps are now of the LED variety.

Under the hood, a 2.0 litre, GDI (Gasoline Direct Injection) Nu four-cylinder engine pumps out a respectable 173 hp at 6,500 rpm and 209 Nm of torque at 4,700 rpm. Transmission options are a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic with Shiftronic manual control.

The system boasts a seven-inch touchscreen system with HD radio technology, SiriusXM Travel Link and pre-installed apps such as Pandora.

Additionally, the Elantra GT adds on Hyundai’s Blue Link telematics system which, together with the Tech Package, includes Remote Start with Climate Control and a Google-powered Destination Search feature. A one-year complimentary access to the Blue Link Connected Care platform is also included.

Haha, well, designed and engineered in Germany, in Opel’s home town. Surely they must have hired some Opel engineers… that’s why they settled there.

Maybe in the US the Cerato or another competitor doesn’t have that…?

Sorry, but that massive front grill looks bad. A bit like the Ford Ecosport. The European front grill for this car is much nicer…

I think Hyundai will use the same “mouth” for all of its new models starting from Santa Fe, next Sonata, after that Tucson, and now Elantra. But for me this “mouth” just nice for big vehicles like Santa Fe and Sonata. :)
