With the Geneva Motor Show just around the corner, the long-awaited third-generation Audi TT will finally be unveiled very soon. Despite this, Audi has still seen fit to tease its new small coupe just a little bit more.
The image above shows a car that remains faithful to the seminal Peter Schreyer-designed original, with distinctive tail lights, prominent wheel arches and a sweeping roofline (now with a slight C-pillar kink). Of course, we’ve known this for quite a while, since Audi has already shown us the sketches a week ago. Nevertheless, this is still the first time we’ve seen it in its proper production form.
Audi has also shown us a teaser video which provides us with a very brief glimpse of the front end, complete with the optional Matrix LED headlights, as well as some of the details including the iconic clamshell bonnet and metal fuel cap.
The new Audi TT will sit on the Volkswagen Group’s modular MQB platform and should be lighter and better to drive than the current car. Inside, the dashboard has been made slimmer and simpler through the removal of Audi’s MMI central display. It is instead replaced by the Audi virtual cockpit, a 12.3-inch TFT LCD display that presents all the information ahead of the driver.
