Naza Euro Motors have started sales of CKD versions of the Citroen DS4 and DS5. Very fine and well built ckd unit
Spec and interior are seriously looks like a great buy
Even though brand value and quality feedbacs are yet to find out
But this is honestly a good car
lol…the sentence shows that it is in past tense.
“Naza Euro Motors have STARTED sales of CKD versions of the Citroen DS4 and DS5.” that mean they already sell those ckd model…
that maybe bcoz most part still import…if import there will be import tax from 5-30% for parts plus sales tax..eg airbag with inflator system is 30% imp tax n sales tax 10% (customs no. 870895000)….we pay sales tax 2 times…during CKD and during buying the car….
The DS4 is a much more sensible buy compared to the DS5 and takes the fight to the entry level BMW 116i and VW Golf. Just hope the quality is comparable to the CBU unit. Just thinking of the horrible CKD units from BMW sends a chill down anyone’s spine.
Agree to your statement. BMW Ckd really frightening and scary.went to the BMW showroom and take a look at the 1 series, to my dismay, the interior and exterior build was not on par to the standard of the Real BMW.
The fitting and the materials of the cabin make me feel that I am in a Japanese car feel.
Sigh… this is Malaysia…
Brilliant cars always come at stupid price with stupid resale value…
This car is awsome!!! But the price is a letdown.. Wtf a CKD car still priced above 120k…??
If bring in those parts to make CKD unit in malaysia still 5- 30% tax for parts and sales. Why still need to CKD in Malaysia? As it can be seen price is NO Different.
Only 1 reason why they still CKD here – Because the G can suck more money into pocket
if the whole car cbu…fix 30% import tax for whole car…parts has varies import tax..some part dont have import tax..at least it can reduce car even onli small 1..we should ask gov to abolish import tax for parts of car that are use in manufacturing eg airbag system, esc, traction control..one more coz people jealous that thai and indo produce many foreign cars that y la…
As a citroen SA in JB, I would like to share that the CKD DS4 and DS5 is very minimal i.e only the SIDE MIRROR AND THE TYRES are assembled in Malaysia. The rest come as a whole from our production plant in France.
DS5 looks really nice. Probably one of the most beautiful cars on sale, not counting supercars lah, cos those are niche market. But its pricetag, even after CKD, is a bit on the high side. For that price, you could get a Mazda6 2.5, which is bigger, handles better, faster, and has better resale value, not to mention cheaper maintenance (first 3 years is free), and its pretty atractive as well. Only Citroen fans will be buying this DS5, or those who want something different.
i agree that ds5 looks great on the road. It is simply a beautiful machine on 4 wheels.
It will take a die hard citroen fan and brave soul to buy this car and face the questionable reliability. Although i must says, Naza had done a lot of for Peugeot branding and thus, nowadays, you do see more pug on the road than compare to 5 years ago.
i drive a 407 so i will be a bit biased :)
External looks are absolutely gorgeous lots of curves and edges that make the car look like something out of a transformer movie. and test drove the DS5,
Its interior is well futuristic with a cockpit like layout but felt a bit cramped. Rear seat space is as bad as the 407.
Aircon is as bad as the 407 does not cool the car down sufficiently suspect that it would probably be using similar compressor just not designed for Malaysian heat. handling felt stiff and power wise yes its got better pickup compared to the 407, but bump handling still not even close to the 407’s. consumption seemed pretty high but need a regular user to validate just used the readings provided.
Cornering over some 90 deg turns at around 60 km/h freaked the sales guy but still fall short as to the confidence you’ll get in a 407 doing the same thing.
Safety wise you get the similar safety in a 407 airbags etc, but simple things which I really appreciate in a 407 like electronically swithching on the child safety for the rear doors is missing.
Not many bells and whistles included compared to a Mazda 6 2.5
Overall the price is still too steep for a regular user and given the chance at the same price I would go for the mazda 6 (not that i can afford it tho :)
Similarly, the aircon is better than a few cars I drive, a 2015 Camry, a 2015 S400 and a 2009 Avanza. So I guess perhaps it was upgraded. Or perhaps you did not angle the air vent flaps correctly.
I’m one of the owner of DS5….The car really satisfied me the most. Previously i’m using toyota. Booked honda accord 2.4 but cancelled it after seeing this car infront of my eyes. DS5 is really great looking, even spacious, high technology and safety 5 star…I want to say that this car is really powerfull , its engine wow …pick up easily and driving it to 160km/hr feels just like you drive it at 80km /hr. cant imagine it, I respect the technology. Its handling is very nice and stable and my husband even now thinking of buying another citroen for him. believe its worth buying
I concur with Amy, I also bought a DS5 for the wife and its a good ride, however yet to test the car on long distance drive. Doesn’t take long to familiarize with all the gizmos inside.
Feel its a good buy provided you are not thinking about selling it later, just hand it over to the kids when they qualify to obtain driving license.
Let’s just say nothing at this price level beats the quality of the DS5 interior. Nothing. The feel the nappa leather, the watch bracelet-themed, body-bugging seats & real aluminium polished handles. There’s not much new tech outside a heads-up display. The same 1.6l THP engine & 6-speed auto from the Peugeot 308 makes it’s way into the DS5. Pity there’s no Hydractive 3+ (that would have been nice). But the styling is really distinctive & ‘Citroeny’ but practical too as there’s ample rear leg room & booth space too. It won’t beat a Mazda 6 in terms of handling but really, it’s not designed so. It’s just a comfy highway cruiser but distinctively-styled :)
