This here is the Cadillac Elmiraj Concept, a grand four-seat coupe offering plenty of sleekness and poise. The 5.2 metre-long hand-built study takes up from where the remarkable Ciel Concept left off, and explores what a next-generation luxury coupe might well shape up like.
The Elmiraj sits on a chassis and structural elements based on an ongoing Cadillac vehicle development project slated for future production, and is powered by a 4.5 litre twin-turbocharged V8 delivering 500 hp and 678 Nm. The V8 takes its baseline technology from the new twin-turbo V6 featured in the 2014 Cadillac CTS.
The 1,814 kg concept is shod with large ceramic brakes with Cadillac monoblock calipers as well as bling seven-spoke 22-inch alloys. The exterior finish seen on the study isn’t black, but a rich blue.
Inside, the cabin’s 2+2 layout features rear bucket seats which contain a valet feature to ease entry and exit – the front bucket seat slides 25 cm forward, while the rear bucket seat slides 10 cm forward to meet the passenger, then slides back into position once the passenger is seated. The rear bucket seats also recline for additional comfort.
As befits a luxury coupe, the Elmiraj’s interior is dressed in plenty of fine trim. Backlit titanium trim curves from the cowl to the doors, dividing the rich upper camel leather from the wood trim, which happens to be hand-cut, handpicked fallen Brazilian rosewood, no less.
The car’s instrumentation features an analog tachometer and speedometer that are transparent. Directly behind the analogue gauges sits a widescreen, high-resolution display which projects driver information and the output of a front-mounted camera. A 10-inch touchscreen for navigation and connectivity is concealed inside the instrument panel when not in use.

The car is built for the sole purpose of marketing it to few individuals in oil rich countries (and few rich individuals in China).
Actually the name also sounds Spanish. For example El-toro, el-diablo. Here it is El-mirage which is a logical name for a car that is touted to zipped pass you so fast that it must be a mirage.
A hint at the styling of the next CTS-V Coupe maybe??? Hope so!

This sexy thing is definitely screaming “show me the moneyyyyy!!!” Damn, Caddy has been making some really gorgeous cars lately (with awesome handling – based on reviews anyway – never driven one before), like the CTS and ATS. They are definitely gunning after BMW customers now. If I was BMW’s Board, I would be extremely worried and maybe get a new Creative Director on board. Their designs have been verging on safe lately. Even Mercedes has been upping the design language.
