Proton Satria Neo Super 2000 touring car

Proton Satria Neo Super 2000 touring car

It appears that a group of people have been working on a Super 2000 Proton Satria Neo rally car. Yahoo Eurosport UK reports that the people behind this car is most likely Mellors Elliot Motorsport based at Bakewell in the Derbyshire region. Mellors Elliot Motorsport was the company that prepared the Proton PERT that Karamjit Singh raced and won in the Production Car World Championship. This is unconfirmed of course.

No specifications at the moment, but FIA regulations for Super 2000 cars include a maximum power output of 280 horsepower normally aspirated, so it’s just natural that the development team tune up the Neo to produce that amount of power to be competitive. There’s also a maximum displacement limit of 2.0 litres – so it’s not very likely that this will be powered by a Campro 1.6 engine. The engine must be mated to a 6-speed sequential gearbox with control specification made by Sadev, Xtrac or Ricardo.

Does this lowered race version is road legal for Neo owners? I’m sure much chassis and suspension tuning is involved.

Look at the humongous wheel arches. It wil be super cool if these cars can make it inroads here. Can’t wait to see the completed car.

you guys can forget about buying or even having any of the modifications that go into this car.. these cars are super super expensive, and are not meant for public use, Racing only.

The olny thing stock are the headlamps and the chassis frame. Even that might be changed to empty ones! All glasses will be changed to polycarbonate, recaro seats, etc etc

Renault source engine is not impossible, since last Proton Impian engine used in British Touring Car Championship, if I’m not mistaken, were Renault sourced also and rebored from stock 1.8 to make it 2.0L engine…to compete in BTCC

This car cannot buy one la……it’s a pure rally machine modded by specialist in the rally team. It’s designed to go just a few thousand km…not hundreds of thousands of km. It’s also bloody expensive. I remember watching on AXN showing the kits for the Ford Focus in WRC cost easily in the region of 60,000 GBP or more. That’s not inclusive of the cost of the car itself. Expect similar cost region for this Neo Super 2000.

Even if they make a road-frenly version of it, it’ll be too close to Neo R3.
