Lexus Reflection Perfection: Chromed IS250

chromeis2501.jpg

This shiny Lexus IS250 was created for the Australian International Motor Show in Sydney, sprayed with special MirraChrome paint by KMC Corporation. It also features a new sporty bodykit that’s not available on the market yet, but will be soon, introduced as a genuine Lexus Accessory later this year.

For those who don’t know what a Lexus IS250 is, it’s the successor to the previous IS200/IS300/Toyota Altezza line of BMW 3-series/Benz C-class competitors, powered by a 2.5-litre Quad Cam VVT-i engine. In Australia, Lexus sold 200 more IS250s than C-class cars, beating the three pointed star marque by 200 cars, but the top position of the small luxury sedan is still occupied by the BMW 3-series.

One more rear-shot after the jump.

Always been a fan of the IS series ever since the IS300. The IS350 is a powerful beast and presents a great threat to the BMW E90 3 series.

never mind the JPJ, this is really good. even they will want one. CHROMY BLING-BLING factor! cheerS!

ps- the bodykit looks great..but whats the point to chrome the whole car? it will only build up heat inside, rite? :puzzle:

its not actually "chromed".. its just a type of paint finishing. btw, Science 101, if anything, chrome will "reflect" heat, not absorb..

Its a nice car, very sporty, rear wheel drive, inspired by the bmw 3 series of course, but i dont think its a serious threat to the 3, not in the past, and still not really there yet currently.

There is another image of a mercedes benz, e-class that has a 'cleaner' chrome throughout the body… it reflects light much better. Take a look:
    http://www.didierbeck.com/pics/diverse/mercedes01…

Meanwhile, if such cars are made available in malaysia, it's going to blind other road users anytime. More like a road hazard. In the afternoon, it reflects sunlight so well and at night, it reflects all sorts of lights, which is potentially dangerous.

And yes, because it reflects light, occupants inside the car is supposed to feel cooler. (As pointed out by honda_driver)

    honda_driver,

agreed on the reflection by chrome..but have you gone into houses where so many glasses? Yes, glass reflect the cahaya, but certainly absorb the heat..

Alah…why would you spend some fortune to color your ride chrome? It only bring distruption to other drivers..

horrible to take picture… WB is hard to adjust. But very cool car. Chromed usually refflect colors around it… so every turn you take your car will change color.

About that chrome thing..Two factors effect the heat conductivity:- (1) the material; glass can trap heat better than metal, glass hardly absorb heat but hardly emit heat (2) the surface condition/color – black easily absorb heat, shiny/chrome hardly absob heat…

i think with chromed body, the car certainly looks amazing… suddenly i felt this LEXUS has alive… suddenly makes me think of the Mclaren Mercedes MP4-21 formula one car, also a very superbly designed car…

sidetrack.. haha.. ya.. glass lets the heat thru, and then traps it inside, which of course, is the glass house principle. Thats how people in the UK can grow tropical plants in their weather by using glass houses.

Which is why we have Tinting ;) So if you wanna stay super cool, get a chrome coloured car, and 3 layers of the best tint money can buy ;)

Lexus roxs! (still staying in topic a bit)
