The price of RON 95 petrol under the Budi Madani RON 95 (Budi95) scheme will continue to be RM1.99 per litre despite market prices having risen three-fold, said prime minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, reported The Star.
“I told the Cabinet to maintain the price of Budi95 for the people. It is a difficult decision. But, RON 95 will be maintained at RM1.99 per litre even though market prices are far higher,” said Anwar, who is also finance minister, during a special press conference at the prime minister’s office today.
Yesterday, Anwar said that the Malaysian government will continue in its efforts to maintain the price of subsidised RON 95 petrol despite global crude oil prices having climbed to around US$100 per barrel following escalating tensions in the Middle East.
As of the last weekly fuel price update on March 5, unsubsidised RON 95 petrol reached RM2.67 per litre, climbing from its RM2.54 per litre rate since mid-February.
For other fuel types, RON 97 petrol climbed 10 sen to RM3.25 per litre in the past week, while Euro 5 B10 and B20 diesel gained eight sen to RM3.12 per litre; Euro 5 B7 diesel which is 20 sen more per litre is therefore RM3.32 per litre. The retail price of diesel fuels in Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan stays unchanged at RM2.15 per litre.

When Anwar says this, that means a price hike is coming. Everything that Anwar promises will be reneged within a few months.
kongkeydong proven wrong as usual. budi95 price remains 1.99
and is it fair to blame anwar? middle war caused entire world oil price to go up, and in fact today budi95 RM1.99 is even cheaper compared to the price in Saudi ARabia.
sudah turun balik baru cakap sial macam ini… naik 1 2 hari then sudah cakap tak boleh tahan dua bulan.. turn lepas 3 hari baru cakap sial….
Apa nak buat? Si tua kerepot yg duduk kat rumah putih tu kerap bertukar cerita bila dia akan tamatkan serangan ke atas Iran. Susah betul utk pemimpin negara2 lain, termasuk Malaysia, nak ramalkan prestasi ekonomi masa depan negara masing2 bila harga minyak mentah tiba2 naik mendadak..
Stop selling your IC details for cheap petrol. Subsidised RON95 must be freely available to all rakyat without hassle or quotas, even to those Malaysians who drive Singapore registered car, and even for expat foreigners who reside in Malaysia driving local car.
small kid like u still repeating the same dead end story
Fire PMX and petrol price will reduce to RM 1.50.
You are too sick and too tired to realize that if the potus is fired, the conflict stops, bringing stability back to the global crude oil supply and prices.
