Proton eMas 5 sees 3,000 bookings in first week of order taking – eMas 7 cumulative sales at 6,655 units

Proton New Energy Technology (Pro-Net), a subsidiary of Proton, has announced that it has received 3,000 bookings for the eMas 5 in the first week of order taking for the brand’s second electric vehicle (EV), which started on October 4, 2025. The company previously said 1,607 bookings were made within the first 24 hours of the estimated price reveal on that day.

With an estimated starting price of RM60,000 for the base Prime variant, the eMas 5 is poised to become Malaysia’s most affordable EV. The longer-range Premium has a tentative price of RM80,000, and Proton is offering an early bird promo for the first 5,000 customers that includes a limited-edition Touch ‘n Go NFC card with RM100 balance and an additional RM500 rebate of the booking fee.

For a brief recap of the specs, the Prime with its 30.12-kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery from CATL will provide up to 225 km of range following the WLTP standard. Meanwhile, the Premium’s larger 40.16-kWh battery, also from CATL, provides up to 325 km. Both variants get a rear electric motor that churns out 79 PS (78 hp or 58 kW) and 130 Nm of torque in the Prime, and 116 (114 hp or 85 kW) and 150 Nm in the Premium.

Pro-Net also mentioned that eMas 7 in its release, revealing its first EV has reached cumulative sales of 6,655 units as of September 30, 2025. From that total, 6,212 units were sold locally, with the remaining 443 units sent to export markets. The eMas 7 is the best-selling EV in Malaysia this year with a market share of 24%.

“We are in the month where two milestones were achieved – the strong sales of the Proton eMas 7 and the great interest that Malaysians have shown in the eMas 5,” said Zhang Qiang, CEO of Pro-Net. “The booking numbers exceeded our expectations. We are thankful that Malaysians continue to put their trust in us to deliver electric vehicles specifically tailored for Malaysia’s road and driving habits,” he added.
