Jetour unveils new logo in Malaysia – stylised ‘JT’

Jetour has unveiled its new logo in Malaysia – a stylised ‘JT’ that also resembles the Chinese character 行 (xing), which means to move forward. The company said in a release that the new logo reflects its ambition to “further elevate its brand presence in Malaysia in 2026”.

“The new logo embodies the spirit of Jetour and our philosophy of ‘defining travel by action’. It represents energy, optimism, and the limitless possibilities that lie ahead for our customers. In Malaysia and beyond, we aim to redefine what it means to travel, combining performance, technology and lifestyle in ways that inspire new experiences,” said Jetour Auto Malaysia CEO Fu Yong.

Jetour currently sells the RM110k-117k Dashing and the RM119k-124k VT9 in Malaysia, but two more are around the corner – the T1 and the RM179k-estimated T2. All are locally assembled (CKD) at Berjaya’s Tampoi plant.

Jetour T2 secures five-star ASEAN NCAP safety rating, report says CKD, two variants, ADAS top variant only?

It’s not even launched yet, but the Jetour T2 already has five ASEAN NCAP stars in the bag. The crash test took place at the China Automotive Engineering Research Institute (CAERI) in Chongqing on November 25, although ASEAN NCAP says final evaluations were conducted in December “to conclude our 2025 calendar”. Last car to be tested under the outgoing 2021-2025 protocol? We’re now into the 2026–2030 protocol, which should have more emphasis on ADAS.

One of two Malaysia-bound Jetours (see the other one here), the T2 achieved 37.17 out of 40 points for adults, 15.94 out of 20 for children, 17.14 out of 20 for safety assist and 16.25 out of 20 for motorcyclists, resulting in a 86.5-point total score.

Crucially, the ASEAN NCAP report reveals some details – Malaysia is listed under ‘other ASEAN production’, suggesting that our T2 could be locally assembled (CKD), as are the Dashing and VT9 at Berjaya’s Tampoi plant. Also, ‘2’ is the number of variants, and AEB, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, lane keep assist and auto high beam are listed as ‘available as optional’. If this is true, it means we’ll only get ADAS on the top variant.

Jetour T2 secures five-star ASEAN NCAP safety rating, report says CKD, two variants, ADAS top variant only?

“Achieving a five-star ASEAN NCAP rating is a significant milestone for the Jetour T2 and a strong validation of its overall engineering and safety performance. From its robust body structure to its comprehensive safety systems, the T2 is designed to protect occupants and help drivers avoid collisions.

“As we prepare for the Malaysian launch in Q1 2026, this result gives customers added confidence that safety is built into the T2 from the start,” Jetour Auto Malaysia CEO Fu Yong said in a release.

Both variants should have six airbags, seatbelt reminders for all occupants, rear seat occupant detection, blind spot detection, pedestrian protection, child presence detection and ISOFIX. Open for booking at an estimated RM178,888, Q1 launch, 254 PS/390 Nm 2.0 litre turbo engine, seven-speed wet DCT – scrutinise the Malaysian-spec Jetour T2 here.

Jetour T2 in Malaysia – now in local specification with Level 2 ADAS, 254 PS/390 Nm 2.0T petrol, 7-speed DCT

Following the preview of the Jetour T2 last month at the paultan.org Auto Car Expo, we can now bring you our live image gallery of the mid-sized SUV which is now in its local Malaysian-market specification, and which is therefore more representative of what buyers will get.

Compared with the display vehicle previewed at ACE 2025 last month, the latest version of the T2 photographed here arrives with a range of differences in equipment.

Here, T2 now gets the windscreen-mounted camera that facilitates its ADAS capability, which is a Level 2 offering comprised of functions including autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane centring assist, an “intelligent dodging” system, blind spot monitoring and rear collision warning.

Exterior detail differences on the T2 includes front fascia “Jetour” lettering that is made of clear plastic instead of chrome on the preview unit, while the wheels on the latest vehicle – 19-inch units shod in 255/60R19 tyres – now do without the lime green accents.

Inside, the cabin of the T2 now gets a black roof liner, superseding the white roof liner of the preview unit, and the drive mode rotary selector now gets a total of seven modes, up from three modes on the preview vehicle.

One area of the T2’s equipment specification that is yet to be finalised is the headrests; Malaysian-market vehicles will not be specified with the winged headrests, and customer vehicles for this market will instead get regular units.

Jetour T2 in Malaysia – now in local specification with Level 2 ADAS, 254 PS/390 Nm 2.0T petrol, 7-speed DCT

Dashboard layout on the T2 continues to feature a 10.25-inch digital driver’s instrument display and a 15.6-inch touchscreen, and Jetour has stated that finalised units for Malaysia will get dual power-adjustable front seats with memory, faux leather upholstery, a panoramic glass roof, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 12-speaker Sony sound system, a 360-degree camera system and six airbags.

Powertrain for the Jetour T2 is from the Chery Tiggo 8 Pro, which means the use of the manufacturer’s 2.0 litre turbocharged, direct-injected four-cylinder petrol engine producing 254 PS at 5,500 rpm and 390 Nm from 1,750 rpm to 4,500 rpm, driving all four wheels through seven-speed wet dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Slated for its official launch in the first quarter of next year, the Jetour T2 is open for booking, and its price is estimated to be RM178,888. This is a significant step up in price from the seven-seater VT9, which was launched in Malaysia with two variants ranging from RM119k to RM124k.

Jetour T2 previewed at ACE 2025 – RHD, 254 PS 2.0T AWD, open for booking, Q1 2026 launch, RM179k est

Hello and welcome to our live coverage of the paultan.org Auto Car Expo, co-sponsored by Carro and Kärcher. One of the brands being showcased at the event is Jetour, which has brought along the T2 SUV.

The car was previewed at the Malaysia Autoshow in May, but today marks the debut of the right-hand-drive version ahead of its official launch, slated for the first quarter of 2026. The car is open for booking (with a RM1,000 fee) with estimated pricing of RM178,888, making it significantly more expensive than Jetour’s other offerings, with even the VT9 only topping out at RM124,350.

The T2 is a mid-sized SUV with boxy styling very much akin to the Ford Bronco, with square headlights, a large grille, an upright glasshouse, a sideways opening tailgate and an “external spare tyre” (actually a large storage box).

Jetour T2 previewed at ACE 2025 – RHD, 254 PS 2.0T AWD, open for booking, Q1 2026 launch, RM179k est

Despite the looks, the car is actually a unibody rather than a body-on-frame vehicle. Measuring 4,785 mm long, 2,006 mm wide and 1,880 mm tall, the T2 is nearly 100 mm longer than the Honda CR-V and just 45 mm shorter than the seven-seater Hyundai Santa Fe.

Inside, the T2 is very much in keeping with Chinese 4×4-esque SUV form, with a bluff dashboard, lots of chunky silvery trim and Allen bolt heads, an oblong-shaped steering wheel and large screens consisting of a 10.25-inch instrument display and a 15.6-inch touchscreen.

The car shown here is not representative of local specs, with the finalised cars coming with dual power-adjustable front seats with memory, faux leather upholstery, a panoramic glass roof, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 12-speaker Sony sound system, a 360-degree camera system and six airbags.

Jetour T2 previewed at ACE 2025 – RHD, 254 PS 2.0T AWD, open for booking, Q1 2026 launch, RM179k est

Power comes from a 2.0 litre turbocharged and direct-injected four-cylinder engine from the Chery Tiggo 8 Pro, producing 254 PS at 5,500 rpm and 390 Nm of torque from 1,750 to 4,500 rpm. All of that gets sent to all four wheels through a seven-speed wet dual-clutch transmission.

There are also plans to bring in the plug-in hybrid version, utilising the same 156 PS/220 Nm 1.5 litre turbo as the Tiggo 7 and Tiggo 8 PHEVs. Unlike those cars, the mill in the Jetour is mated to a three-speed dedicated hybrid transmission (DHT) and a 224 PS/390 Nm electric motor. Battery options include 26.7 kWh and 43.24 kWh units, delivering WLTP-rated pure electric ranges of 100 km and 161 km respectively.

Jetour says the T2 will be its first model to be offered here with Level 2 semi-autonomous driving functionality, including autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane centring assist, an “intelligent dodging” system, blind spot monitoring and rear collision warning. This is despite the display unit not coming with a windscreen camera.

Expect the T2 to arrive in CBU fully-imported form first, with CKD locally-assembled models coming from the Berjaya Assembly plant in Johor later on. If you want to check out the Jetour T2 in person, ACE 2025 will take place today and tomorrow from 9am to 7pm at the Setia City Convention Centre (SCCC).

Jetour T2 RHD Malaysian preview at ACE 2025, Nov 8 to 9 – open for booking, est pricing to be revealed

Previewed at the Malaysia Autoshow in May, the Jetour T2 is set to make another appearance at the paultan.org Auto Car Expo (ACE) this weekend, November 8 and 9, at the Setia City Convention Centre (SCCC). This time, however, the rugged SUV will be showcased in right-hand drive for the first time.

Its debut will coincide with the opening of “early” booking, the Chery Holding-owned carmaker said, adding that the T2’s estimated pricing will also be revealed at the event. The company had teased the car’s arrival two weeks ago.

For the uninitiated, the T2 is a mid-sized SUV with boxy styling very much akin to the Ford Bronco, with square headlights, a large grille, an upright glasshouse, a sideways opening tailgate and an “external spare tyre” (actually a large storage box). Despite the looks, the car is actually a unibody rather than a body-on-frame vehicle, available with either front- or all-wheel drive.

Engine options include a brace of Chery-derived mills, including the O5‘s 1.5 litre turbo four-cylinder with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, the Tiggo 8 Pro‘s 2.0 litre unit with either the DCT or an eight-speed automatic, or a plug-in hybrid version that couples a 1.5 litre turbo four-pot with a three-speed dedicated hybrid transmission (DHT) and two electric motors.

The most likely candidate is the 2.0 litre engine and seven-speed DCT combo shown at the Malaysia Autoshow, producing 254 PS and 390 Nm of torque.

Expect the T2 to arrive in CKD locally assembled form, coming from the Berjaya Assembly plant in Johor. If you want to check out the Jetour T2 in person, ACE 2025 will take place on November 8 to 9 from 9am to 7pm at the Setia City Convention Centre (SCCC). Entrance is free.

  • Jetour T2 teased for Malaysia – Tank 300 rival soon?

We saw it at the Malaysia Autoshow 2025 (albeit in left-hand drive form) with the Chery Tiggo 8 Pro‘s 254 PS/390 Nm 2.0 litre turbo engine and seven-speed twin-clutch auto – now Jetour Malaysia has teased the arrival of the Jetour T2 on Facebook. Looks like the GWM Tank 300 will have some company soon.

Unlike its less-hardcore-looking, smaller and more ‘urban’ T1 twin (which is also earmarked for Malaysia, but likely to arrive after the T2), the T2 is only available in all-wheel drive. Think Ford Bronco Sport and full-fat Bronco (although the latter is of course a body-on-frame 4×4). Easiest way to tell the two apart? The T2 has a ‘spare wheel cover’ on its tailgate.

Jetour Auto International’s vice president said in China in November that all Jetour products for Malaysia will be locally-assembled (CKD), including the T2. Berjaya Assembly’s Tampoi plant is currently churning out the Dashing and VT9.

Jetour claims it sells an average of 15,000 units of the T2 a month in China – double the volume of the GWM Tank 300 and enough to make it the leader in the ‘boxy SUV’ market. In Malaysia, the China-imported (CBU) Tank 300 costs RM250k. You know our next question…

Jetour T2 SUV makes Malaysian debut – 2.0T + 7DCT from Chery Tiggo 8 Pro, AWD, launching this year?

The butch-looking Jetour T2 off-road SUV is at the Malaysia Autoshow 2025, one of two models Jetour Malaysia will likely introduce next, the other being the eVT5. The left-hand drive unit carries the Chery Tiggo 8 Pro‘s 254 PS/390 Nm 2.0 litre turbo engine and seven-speed twin-clutch auto.

Unlike its less-hardcore-looking, smaller and more ‘urban’ T1 twin (which is also earmarked for Malaysia, but likely to arrive after the T2), the T2 is only available in all-wheel drive. • Jetour Malaysia to launch T1, T2 SUVs, small EV model, PHEV SUVs and pick-up truck soon

Jetour Malaysia to launch T1, T2 SUVs, small EV model, PHEV SUVs and pick-up truck soon

Now that Jetour has finally landed in Malaysia with the Dashing, the Chery Group brand can at last proceed with its product rollout. The SUV specialist (then again, which Chery marque isn’t these days?) has no less than five models planned to be launched here in the coming months and years.

Top of the agenda are the Freedom and Traveller SUVs, known as the T1 and T2 respectively outside of China. As we reported in November, the latter is set to arrive in Malaysia sometime in the third quarter of the year, with the T1 following later on. Given the delay in bringing the Dashing to market, however, this timeline may no longer be correct.

Both feature boxy, upright designs, but the T1 is smaller and is available in front-wheel-drive form, whereas the more rugged T2 is all-wheel drive only. Think of their relationship as being similar to that of the Ford Bronco Sport and the full-fat Bronco, although the latter is of course a body-on-frame 4×4.

Jetour Malaysia to launch T1, T2 SUVs, small EV model, PHEV SUVs and pick-up truck soon

Both are powered by the same choice of engines, starting with a 1.5 litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine that makes 184 PS and 290 Nm of torque and is mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. There’s also a 254 PS/390 Nm 2.0 litre turbo shared with the Chery Tiggo 8 Pro, paired to the DCT in the T2 and an eight-speed automatic in the T1.

The T1 and T2 can also be had as a plug-in hybrid, with the former using the same Super Hybrid System (SHS) found in the Jaecoo J7 PHEV. That means you have a hybrid-specific 156 PS/220 Nm 1.5 litre turbo mill, a 204 PS/310 Nm electric motor and a single-speed dedicated hybrid transmission (DHT) for a total system output of 360 PS and 530 Nm. A 26.7 kWh BYD Blade lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery provides a WLTP-rated pure electric range of 117 km for the T1.

Meanwhile, the T2 graduates to the more powerful system in the Omoda C9 PHEV. This uses a more powerful 224 PS/390 Nm electric motor and a three-speed DHT for a total output of 381 PS and 610 Nm of torque, shortening the EV range to 100 km. A larger 43.2 kWh CATL LFP battery boosts the latter figure to 161 km, while the AWD version gets the 43.2 kWh pack and a rear motor to boost outputs to 619 PS and 700 Nm.

Jetour Malaysia to launch T1, T2 SUVs, small EV model, PHEV SUVs and pick-up truck soon

The Kaiyi X3 Pro that was spotted here will be sold as a Jetour

Both T1 and T2 PHEVs are expected for our market, with further hybrid-exclusive models being planned to be brought in later on, including the T5 off-roader and P5 pick-up truck. Before that, Jetour Malaysia is set to bring in an electric vehicle that looks very similar to the forthcoming Chery Tiggo 4 Pro/Tiggo Cross.

That would be a rebadged version of the Kaiyi X3 Pro, which has been spotted in Malaysia before and now looks set to arrive as a Jetour. Power comes from a single front motor producing 163 PS (120 kW) and 280 Nm, with a 53 kWh CATL LFP battery providing an NEDC range of 401 km.

What about the new seven-seater SUV that was set to follow the Dashing to Malaysia? Last we heard (in January), that car was set to be launched later this quarter (i.e. May or June), but again the timeline may have shifted since then, given that the Dashing was then expected to be launched in the first quarter.

Jetour Dashing and 7-seat CKD SUVs launching in Malaysia ‘after CNY’ – T2 off-roader Q3 2025, T1 later

The Jetour brand – which was previewed at the Malaysia Autoshow 2024 in May – will be officially launching its first two models in our market ‘after Chinese New Year’ next year. As CNY will be in late January 2025, Jetour’s SUVs could hit the market as soon as February 2025.

This was revealed to paultan.org by Jetour Auto International vice president Kevin Xu at the ongoing Jetour Global Travel+ Conference in Fuzhou, China. Xu confirmed that the two models are the Dashing and a 7-seat SUV, both of which were previewed in May.

Xu said that all Jetour products for our market will be CKD locally assembled, including the T2 off-road SUV that is scheduled for a Q3 2025 introduction in Malaysia. However, Jetour’s APAC boss declined to reveal the company’s local assembly partner as it is a listed company and protocols must be followed.

By the way, the T2 is a butch-looking off-road SUV that has the ‘retro modern’ 4×4 look carried by the Land Rover Defender and Ford Bronco. Jetour claims that it sells an average of 15,000 units of the T2 a month in China – that’s double the volume of the GWM Tank 300, and enough to make it the leader in the ‘boxy SUV’ market. The T2 is the brand’s hot product of the moment and overseas distributors are reporting high demand and long waitlists.

Jetour T1 (row above), Jetour T2 (row below); click to enlarge

The T1 is similar to the T2 at a glance, but has slightly less ‘hardcore’ styling – the difference is more apparent in its rounder rear end, which lacks the ‘spare wheel’ on the tailgate. The T1 will also come to Malaysia, but it will be after the T2 and it will be positioned slightly lower as the more ‘urban’ model.

The T2 and T1 are the ‘off-road’ models in Jetour’s portfolio, which will be joined by the T5 model domestically in October 2025. The Dashing and 7-seat SUV are in the ‘family SUV’ side of the range – click on the links for full details on the duo.

By the way, Jetour is a brand under the Chery umbrella, but it operates independently of Chery across the globe, and this will also be the case in Malaysia. Separate team, separate office, unlike Jaecoo Malaysia, which is closely linked to the mothership.

Beijing 2024: Jetour 7-seat SUV facelift, PHEV versions of the T2 light off-roader and L6 SUV on display

Jetour’s booth at this year’s Auto China featured a few new models, some of which we’ll be covering in this post. The sub-brand of Chery has already announced it will make its public debut in Malaysia next month, with the Dashing and a 7-seat SUV set to be first cars to be launched in the second half of 2024.

    Jetour 7-seat SUV facelift

In China, the 7-seat SUV received a major facelift this year that brings with it an overhauled front end featuring a large grille with horizontal slats. This is also where you’ll find the main headlamps, with the daytime running lights now being a light strip that runs just beneath the bonnet line.

The changes at the rear are less substantial, with the taillights sporting a new graphic, while the bumper has been tweaked to include corner fins, bold chrome trim and rectangular exhaust trim finishers.

Inside, the updated 7-seat SUV gets larger dual displays along with a revised dashboard and more prominent chrome air vents. The third touchscreen for the climate system remains unchanged, but the centre console receives a fancy glass-look gear selector.

In terms of powertrains, the new-for-2025 7-seat SUV is available with a 1.5 litre turbocharged inline-four petrol engine making 156 PS (154 hp or 115 kW) and 230 Nm in China. This is paired with either a six-speed manual or DCT to drive the front wheels. There’s also a 1.6 litre unit making 197 PS (194 hp or 145 kW) and 290 Nm which is paired with a seven-speed DCT, also driving the front wheels.

    Jetour L6

A recent addition to the line-up, the L6 is part of Jetour’s Shanhai of new energy vehicle (NEV) series in China. Previewed by the X-2 concept at last year’s Auto Shanghai, the L6 will be offered with plug-in hybrid and fully electric powertrains, according to CarNewsChina.

The former is said to be Chery’s C-DM system with a 1.5 litre turbocharged engine and an electric motor for a hybrid range of up to 1,400 km – little details about the EV variant for now. The L6 is reportedly the NEV variant of the Dashing and should share the same dimensions of 4,590 mm long, 1,900 mm wide, 1,685 mm tall and with a wheelbase of 2,720 mm.

Moving inside, the interior of the L6 isn’t too dissimilar from the Dashing, with a large touchscreen occupying the dashboard. There’s also an identical steering wheel, while a small digital instrument cluster is integrated into the wide-width trim ahead of the driver. One difference is the centre console, which is connected to the air vents in the L6 but is separated in the Dashing.

    Jetour Shanhai T2

The T2, also known as the Traveller, isn’t new in Jetour’s line-up, but the car shown at the company’s booth in Auto China is the plug-in hybrid version. Launched at the show with a price range of between 179,900 and 209,900 yuan (about RM118k and RM138k), the PHEV version is also part of the Shanhai series.

In terms of specifications, the T2 is equipped with a 1.5 litre turbocharged inline-four petrol engine making 156 PS (154 hp or 115 kW) and 220 Nm. This is paired with a three-speed Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT) and electric motor, the latter rated at 224 PS (221 hp or 165 kW) and 390 Nm for a total system output of 381 PS (375 hp or 280 kW) and 610 Nm.

Two lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries are offered, with the first being a 26.7-kWh unit that provides up 100 km of electric-only range following the WLTC standard (129 km CLTC) and enabling a top speed of 197 km/h. The second option is a 43.24-kWh unit that ups the EV-only range to 161 km (208 km CLTC), while the top speed is increased to 210 km/h. In hybrid mode, the maximum comprehensive range possible is 1,300 km.

Jetour didn’t list exact charging capacities on its official website, but it did state the Shanhai T2 can handle both AC and DC charging. It also comes with a vehicle-to-load function capable of delivering up to 6.6 kW, with another external power supply in the boot that can output 2.2 kW.
