tbd King of the Hill - Trailer
Animation/Comedy: It's time once again to stock up on propane and propane accessories and make a big plate of spa-Peggy and meatballs. So what's the big deal about the 14th season of yet another adult animated comedy? For one thing, it's the first new batch of episodes in 16 years. Created by the super-duo of Mike Judge (Beavis and Butt-Head) and Greg Daniels (The Office, Parks and Recreation), the blue-collar comedy revolving around the Hill family (plus their friends and neighbors) in Arlen, Texas earned critical acclaim during its original 13-season, 259-episode run on Fox, which has been repeated endlessly in syndication to this day. Today's Hulu revival brings 10 new episodes which pick up some years later, with Hank and Peggy Hill retired and son Bobby now 21 and working as a chef in Dallas. The original cast—including Judge, Pamela Adlon, Kathy Najimy, Lauren Tom, Stephen Root, Toby Huss, and the late Johnny Hardwick (who passed away after recording a few episodes)—returns, while Ronny Chieng joins the show to become the new voice of neighbor Kahn.

tbd Demascus limited series Trailer
Sci-Fi/Comedy: If the name sounds at all familiar, it's because Demascus was ordered and produced by AMC several years ago, only to be canceled in 2023 in a cost-cutting move. Now Tubi will be the home for the never-aired miniseries, which stars Okieriete Onaodowan (Station 19) as a young black man who uses a new cutting-edge psychiatric technology to experience alternate versions of his life. The series comes from playwright Tearrance Chisholm, features Martin Lawrence in a guest role, and includes the reclusive Theodore Witcher (Love Jones)—who hasn't directed film or TV since 1998—among its directors.

tbd Alien: Earth new series Trailer - Trailer2
Drama/Sci-Fi/Horror: The 46-year-old Alien film franchise moves to TV for the first time with a prequel series created by Noah Hawley (who previously created the TV version of Fargo for FX) and produced in part by original Alien director Ridley Scott. Set two years before the events of the first film (in other words, nearly a century into the future from today), Alien: Earth is the first entry in the franchise to take place on Earth—one that is governed by five rival mega-corporations, one of which is developing new robot-human hybrids. When Weyland-Yutani's mysterious deep space research vessel crash lands back on Earth, a group of tactical soldiers investigates—and we're guessing that you already suspect what they'll find on board. Sydney Chandler (Sugar) heads a cast that also includes Timothy Olyphant, Alex Lawther, Essie Davis, and Samuel Blenkin. The first two episodes debut today on both FX and Hulu, with the remaining six episodes arriving one per week on subsequent Tuesdays.

tbd The Gold new series Trailer
Drama: Masterpiece's newest import is a retelling of one of the most infamous crimes in British history: The 1983 Brink's Mat robbery, in which six men broke into a security depot near Heathrow Airport expecting to walk off with a modest score but who instead stumbled across a shocking £26 million worth of gold bullion. (That's roughly $150 million today, accounting for inflation and exchange rates.) This first season—which previously streamed on Paramount+ in 2023—examines the robbery and the legal proceedings that immediately followed, including the convictions of some of the robbers; a second season (which will be exclusive to PBS in the States) will follow the search for the remaining funds and an investigation into the massive money laundering operation that followed in the robbery's wake. Jack Lowden, Hugh Bonneville, Dominic Cooper, and Charlotte Spencer head the cast.

tbd Pluribus new series Trailer
Drama/Sci-Fi: Vince Gilligan's highly anticipated follow-up to Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul reunites him with one of the Emmy-nominated stars of the latter series, Rhea Seehorn, who takes the lead here. The series has been shrouded in mystery since it was announced in 2022—even the title was a secret until this summer—and the logline itself provides little information: Pluribus is "a genre-bending original in which the most miserable person on Earth must save the world from happiness." One of the genres being bent is sci-fi, something that Gilligan has extensive experience in from his days as a writer and producer on The X-Files. Karolina Wydra (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) also stars in this nine-episode first season, which kicks off with two episodes today. A second season has already been ordered.

tbd Nouvelle Vague movie
Foreign/Drama/Comedy: Prolific director Richard Linklater's first French-language feature (and second film of 2025 following the also-just-released Blue Moon) is shot in black-and-white. Specifically, it is filmed in the style of Jean-Luc Godard's 1960 French New Wave masterpiece Breathless, and it fictionalizes the making of that film—though it does so in the form of a "hangout comedy," according to Justin Chang's review for The New Yorker following Nouvelle Vague's Cannes premiere. Reviews at the festival were generally positive, but don't expect anything quite on the level of Godard's film. Drama/Horror: Are the "child" actors now old enough to be the parents of their own characters? Perhaps, but your favorite Netflix series is finally back for its final season after a three-year wait. The new episodes are set in 1987—you know it better as the peak Spuds MacKenzie era—as Hawkins is placed under military quarantine and our heroes attempt to locate and destroy Vecna. New cast members this year include Linda Hamilton, Alex Breaux, Nell Fisher, and Jake Connelly. Because Netflix so enjoys making you wait, the new episodes will arrive in batches. Season 5 kicks off with its first four episodes today, followed by three more on Christmas Day and the series finale on New Year's Eve (which falls this year on Dec. 31).
