As an introduction to the rebooted DC Universe, "Superman" is zippy blockbuster fun. But amidst all its cartoon absurdity, it might just inspire people to make a difference in this universe.
Grim and gritty are words this movie firmly rejects, instead leaning into the human side of everyone involved, even its villains. There are a few choices that work less well than others, but the end result is a movie that doesn't sacrifice its titular character in service to franchise-building. Instead, it focuses on celebrating the values that Superman himself has embodied from the beginning.

Superman is a wonderfully entertaining, heartfelt cinematic reset for the Man of Steel, and a great new start for the DC universe on the big screen.
This film finally admits that Superman has been a mainstay for nearly a century precisely because he stands for things outside of faddish trends.
There’s promise here. A broader cinematic universe that feels cohesive, filled with amusing cameos and, for the first time in years, a DCU that feels like it has a faint pulse are all very welcome. But whenever the film strains to address Big Ideas, it’s painful.
Gunn is admirably overflowing with imagination, but he squanders his best material.
By the movie’s merciful end, you wonder what a nice guy like Superman is doing in a mean place like this.

Superman es una película que merece la pena ver, pero no está exenta de dudas ni tampoco está libre de esa fatiga que sufre el género superheroico.¿De qué trata?Con Superman (2025), James Gunn da el primer paso en su ambicioso universo DC («Gods and Monsters») entregando una versión del Hombre de Acero profundamente humana, optimista y consciente del mundo que habita. El resultado es una película vibrante y emocional, aunque no exenta de **** mejor: una visión esperanzadora sin caer en la ingenuidadVayamos al corazón de la película: un David Corenswet que encarna a un Superman creíble y carismático, alejado de la frialdad hipermasculina que ha dominado encarnaciones recientes. Su Clark Kent es vulnerable sin dejar de ser fuerte, y su visión moral del mundo es el verdadero motor del relato. Junto a él, Rachel Brosnahan aporta una Lois Lane aguda, decidida y emocionalmente compleja y un Lex Luthor que se come la pantalla en cada aparición que vemos. Sin olvidar el carisma de Mr. Terrific y Krypto.Gunn evita repetir la historia de origen, y eso es un acierto. Su Superman ya está establecido, y el conflicto surge de cómo el mundo lo percibe y cómo él encaja en un entorno sociopolítico polarizado. You find yourself thrust into the tenth episode of a Superman TV series, having missed the first nine. You literally understand nothing. The movie begins like this. It's like picking up a book you've never read and starting on page 50. The dog is incredibly stupid, both with Superman and when the fortress is attacked; he's the last to notice. Civilians never escape with monsters or villains. They just go about their business, like in GTA. Too many unnecessary secondary characters that add to an already hackneyed story. The CGI is sometimes worse than Snow White's dwarfs. The plot is entirely centered on the metaphorical war for Israel and Palestine. Superman is always getting beaten up and always getting help. His Earth parents look like his grandparents. Lex has his own dimension, his own Superman (Ultraman), but he has to prove to the world he's right about Superman when the whole world buys and finances him. In conclusion, an incredibly stupid and pointless film for superficial people who call it a masterpiece just because some paid YouTuber they met on the street said so. Bravo! This oblivion is the result of your frustrations. You deserve it. Rating: 3. And I was generous!

There were huge expectations on this film -well, it didn't meet them.
First of all, the movie is entertaining, and I could understand why some people will love it. The problem is, it is just bad. It's bad because the script is severely flawed. And yeah, nobody expects to find a brilliant script in a superhero movie. But one thing is not being brilliant, an a whole different thing is being dumb, lazy and contradictory with your own logic. There is a bad guy that is supossed to be a fool (is treated like one) but is able to remember an infinite number of codes for different moves. There is a superhero that can create a sun, but is unable to help his son. There is a whole change in Krypton mytology, that Superman refuses tobe part of, and that could be a good idea, but even though he still wears his family shield, Kara is suposed to know it all and still doesn't tell him anything... And then the dialogues, dumb and lazy, always too obvious, the general tone of the movie, the stupid humour that makes epic wannabe scenes just small... Too many things make this movie bad. And that even without starting to compare, because of you do, the cast (Kevin Costner vs a random guy) the music (Hans Zimmer vs rock version of Superman?) the screenplay, and almost everything is a step backawards vs the previous films. And the worst, we have lost a unique tone of voice for DC universe, and now we just have Marvel wannabe films. I'm scared about the next Wonder Woman, and specially Batman movies.
