The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom was already on the Mount Rushmore of video games. That said, if you weren't able to click with the original due to the performance, the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition completely revolutionizes the game. Having spent over 70 hours exploring the vast region of Hyrule in glorious HDR, I can't recommend this game enough; it's truly one of the best gaming experiences you can buy in 2025.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom not only feels right at home on Switch 2, it now feels like the game it was always meant to be. Already a fantastic game in its own right when it released in 2023, it has finally been freed from the shackles of outdated hardware to show what it is truly capable of, and even if you disliked it the first time around – especially if you did, in fact – it is more than worth checking out a second time on Nintendo’s new hardware.
An absolute masterpiece, which in this version manages to amaze again, congratulations Nintendo
Capolavoro assoluto, che in questa versione riesce di nuovo a stupire, complimenti nintendo
I understand the complaint that this re-release shouldn’t be included in the list for 2025. But that’s no reason to punish it with bad reviews. For me, this game is a masterpiece. The ideas it contains are simply incredible. And the ability to play it now in high resolution with a smooth framerate makes it even better. The often-mentioned criticism - that it’s just a DLC for part one, because of reusing the world - is, in my opinion, completely wrong. On the contrary, to me it felt like coming home, with the special excitement of seeing how the different regions have changed. That’s something you only get in very few games, and this aspect added a lot to the appeal. I think Nintendo was very brave to take this approach. By using the same engine and world, they were able to focus on what really matters: innovative ideas, pure gameplay fun, a living world, and beautiful stories (side and main story). I also had so much fun with the building mechanics — experimenting with and fine-tuning vehicles and flying machines was very satisfying. And when it comes to the price, let’s not forget how well physical Nintendo games hold their value when resold. Also, there are no bugs, no microtransactions, and none of the other typical problems we all know from other companies.
I find it hard to say whether Tears of the Kingdom is worth revisiting on the Switch 2 for returning players. I haven’t had that experience myself, after all. Plus, the €10 upgrade only gets you a higher resolution, HDR, and a more stable framerate — nothing that truly shakes things up functionally. That said, I do expect that almost anyone with a save file from 2023 still has plenty left to do before reaching 100%. For new players or returning Zelda fans who walked away from Breath of the Wild disappointed back then, I’d say: give it a chance. After playing Tears of the Kingdom, I’m still not entirely convinced — I’d love to see a brand-new, traditional Zelda on the Switch 2. That said, I’ve come to appreciate the direction Zelda took in 2017 a lot more now.
Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom on the Nintendo Switch 2 is the definitive version of Nintendo's modern classic, offering enhanced graphics, smooth 60 FPS performance, and near-instant loading times. While it doesn’t introduce new content, this re-release stands out for its technical improvements and quality-of-life tweaks, making it ideal both for newcomers exploring Hyrule for the first time and for longtime fans looking to relive the adventure with superior comfort and performance.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom gets a much-needed upgrade on the Nintendo Switch 2, transforming a good game into a truly great one. With buttery-smooth performance, enhanced visuals, and clever new quality-of-life features like in-game navigation and build sharing, this is undoubtedly the definitive way to experience Hyrule's latest adventure. If you haven't played it yet or are looking for a true showcase for your new console, the Switch 2 Edition makes Tears of the Kingdom shine.
As I was still far from finished with Tears of the Kingdom, I was delighted to be able to do so with improved technology. If you feel the same way, or if you haven't played the title yet, you should definitely go for the Switch 2 version. As with BotW, it's a bit of a shame that the Zelda Notes features are only accessible via an app.
Causal gamer eye: Game is very well made and has it's moment. Nice feeling of exploring sky islands, flying down from heights to the lands. Fantasy characters, and beautiful anime style world. But: Side quests I skipped because found them boring, some puzzles were exhausting, there is just to many of them. Spending hours in one location to solve mandatory puzzles tired me up as hell. And difficulty of some bosses! Game is generally medium to easy at times. But last boss fight took me half of the day, and it was waste of time, gaining useles irl knowledge. I wanted causal, relaxed experience but game forced me to struggle to often. Also I found no reward in killing world map monsters, you can just avoid them. They respawn anyway, so what's the point?
Good game but forced casual player like me to struggle too much. And some locations were extremely boring, and to long for me.
I rate first Switch Zelda game, breath of the wild 9/10. This one I give only 7/10.
O jogo é simplesmente incrível, porém não vale está com essa nota por ser apenas um 'remaster" de um jogo de 2023 e sendo inferior ao breath of the wild
Is this a good game? absolutely, is this worth a remaster not even 2 years after it's original release? definitely not,I don't care if it has better performance (performance even still poor compared to today's standards), it should've been sold like an update to it's original self and not an overpriced remaster
The game is good, but honestly it’s the same as the previous one. And even if the Switch 2 allows for graphical improvements, I think the franchise is starting to run out of steam. At this price point, something fresh would be expected…
