The Wario Land formula is reinvented and improved upon in this magnificently clever and surreal platformer, that is more fun than any of the official Nintendo games.
I didn't really want to play Pizza Tower at all because I thought it looked gross, but I promised my friend that I'd play it if they played Ghost Trick and here we are. The game does look gross but in like a sick nasty radical way. It is astounding how good it feels to move fast in this video game and I don't understand how Sonic couldn't do this for 25 years. Every part of Peppino's arsenal feels specifically made to make going fast feel like you just had intercourse in a sick nasty radical way. I love his dives and his different speedy punches they're really fun. I used to hate little things about Peppino's moveset like the way he dashes and the different ways that he throws enemies, but the more I play the game the more I am just infatuated with the way he does everything. It might be my favorite game to control behind Celeste it is so insanely good.
The animation is so incredibly amazing. If you hold down the taunt button Peppino just starts busting it down sexual style and that's chill. I love the little Tv in the top right that shows little buddy and how much character it gives him. I'm usually not paying attention because of how fast he is going but every so often I'll take a little peaksie up at the screen and this jokester will be making a very funny face! John Gutter is so fugly that it won't seem like it at first but every single other stage is an absolute feast to the eyes.
Speaking of the stages, it is amazing what lengths that they've gone to making every single one so unique. One stage you'll be running through the desert into a UFO and then you're going to space and then you're at the whims of Mort the Chicken from the hit game Mort the Chicken on the PS1 and then you're in Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria and then you are in war it is so fun. A big part of the stages that I love is that the devs are not afraid to make a gimmick to fit a stage and keep it in the stage. I love Mort the Chicken as much as the next guy but I don't think he would really fit any other stage in the game, and he doesn't need to.
When I first played this game it was a very low 8 out of 10, then after a bunch of time playing it was a 9 out of 10, and at the very moment everything finally clicked it became one of the easiest 10 out of 10s that I have ever experienced.
this might be the best 2d side scroller on the market, good artstyle, peak level design , low skill bar yet high skill ceiling and genunely addicting gameplay, play it if you have not done so already
Refreshing, unique and incredibly polished, Pizza Tower brings an experience that few other platformers can hope to match. A twisted energy spike in a world full of bland 2D indies.
There is frankly no getting away from it. Pizza Tower is a fantastic platformer sporting some great levels, rock-solid gameplay, an amazing soundtrack, and brilliant animation. It quite possibly will be one of the best indie titles to release this year. And could be in the running for game of the year. However, as good as it is it can be repetitive at times and it could be too difficult for some.
If you're a 2D platforming fan, loved Wario Land and the old Sonic games - this isn't a question of "if" you should play Pizza Tower - Its a question of "when".
Pizza Tower is a juicy slice of heart-pounding 2d platformer. Taking the weirder sides from the classic Wario Land series, guiding Peppino Spaghetti through increasingly curious and crazy levels will be one of the most fun experiences of the year. If you're looking for a remedy to the lack of that 1990s flavor in your video games, Pizza Tower will definitely be for you.
Bom jogo.
Pizza Tower is extremely unique. It's got a distinct, hilarious art style that sets it apart from other platformers and great mechanics that almost make it feel like a more unique Sonic game. There isn't much more to ask for here: if you're down for hilarious and fast paced platformers, this is something you should definitely pick up.
This game currently ranks #1 in Top 150 highest rated Steam games of 2023 by game reviewers. I had to see what the fuss is all about, only to find out that this is nothing more than a generic 2D platformer. The pizzas with the red lips make annoying noises. The running animations are very cringeworthy. The pizza guy always makes incredibly cringeworthy faces. To make matter worse, there is a stupid TV on the right-top corner where the pizza guy makes even cringier faces. When you pass a level, there is music that is extremely cringeworthy. It is over-exaggerated and tries too hard to be upbeat in a pathetic attempt at making players excited when they win. It didn't make me excited in the slightest. All this cringe made me grab my monitor and slam it against the floor out of frustration. There is no multiplayer, but I didn't expect one at a cheap price. Did I say cheap? The greedy developers are charging $20 for a flash game. I immediately refunded this garbage after nearly 2 hours. I don't want to torture myself any further with this garbage. Besides, there are plenty of free flash games on the internet. I don't recommend this game at all, unless you like looking at cringeworthy faces literally every second. ● P.S. I originally wrote this review back in early 2023, so that's when it ranked #1 on Steam and I had to see what all the fuss is about. All the crazy things that happened to me this summer made me realize it's best for me to just quit gaming altogether. College Football 25 would've been my last review. I have 0 faith on these lazy and greedy devs, so that was the plan. But after the deletion of this review, I'll postphone my departure. I'm not letting you toy-collecting millennials get away with controlling the narrative, and I'll let these devs know why it's a mistake to listen to you. I'll make sure they develop a highly successful $70 game (regardless if I like it) that will trigger the nerds, before I quit gaming for good. Anyways, I slammed my monitor because of this game. So it deserved this score, Metacritic. Speaking of which, I need to pick up a new TV after destroying it. When I come back, I'll continue gaming.
