Demon Slayer The Hinokami Chronicles 2 builds on the foundations of the first instalment and takes each slider up a notch. Even if there's room for improvement in one area or another, we've finally got a big Demon Slayer fighting game in our hands.
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Hinokami Chronicles 2 is largely more of the same, but that isn't much of a issue when the first game was already so enjoyable. Story mode here picks up where the last left off and covers three new dramatic arcs, and the gameplay has been refreshed a little with new elements such as Gear. It's the whopping number of characters now available in Versus mode that's the real draw, though.
By having a healthier roster, slightly tweaked combat, and two of the best arcs in the whole series, The Hinokami Chronicles 2 still stands as a worthy sequel, and one that I hope is surpassed even more by the inevitable third game that has a hell of a lot of heavy lifting to do by finishing off the whole series.
If you're a loyal fan of pop culture's most popular sword fights, you should definitely play it to prepare for what's next in the franchise. However, if you tried watching the series and never really got into it, it's best to spend your money on something more entertaining.
Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Hinokami Chronicles 2 simply continued what the first one brought: a way to actively experience the anime's elaborate battles. While the experience is rich for Tanjiro and demon slayer fans, the cast could have brought more character variety and less "echo characters".
Demon Slayer: The Hinokami Chronicles 2 does more than its contemporaries, but sadly, it needs more to stay prominent in this gaming space. This is a follow-up, so you’d expect the game to grow with the fans, but as it stands, the ceiling is much too low. Regardless, I had a great time playing through these arcs and hanging out with these characters. The way this cast overcomes some of the most one-sided fights is incredible to witness with a controller in hand, and I can’t overstate how badass I feel being able to say I took down an Upper Rank demon.
By building on the original and adapting some of the best arcs from the manga, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba - The Hinokami Chronicles 2 is pretty much a must for fans. As far as arena brawler goes, this is one of the better ones, although we still think combat can be a bit flat and woolly at times. But, with a wealth of single player content and so many characters to choose from, this is a worthy sequel to an already solid game.
