How to Use a Parachute

This GTA 5 guide is a handy resource on getting and using the parachute on the Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS4, PS5, and PC.

Parachutes are good for a few things in GTA 5. They help you to land on hard-to-reach spots all around San Andreas, they help with escaping off tall buildings, and sight-seeing some of the mountain terrains. Additionally, you can complete a couple of the Strangers and Freaks missions that require a parachute. But most importantly, parachutes help get you to the ground safely.

How to Get a Parachute

There are a few ways to get a parachute in GTA, but note that a parachute is only available for purchase after you have completed the Minor Turbulence mission.

  • You can sometimes find a parachute on the roof of some of the taller buildings in downtown Los Santos like the Maze Bank.
  • You can purchase a parachute at Ammu-Nation.
  • Use a Parachute cheat code:
    • PS5 / PS4 / PS3: LEFT, RIGHT, L1, L2, R1, R2, R2, LEFT, LEFT, RIGHT, L1
    • Xbox Series X|S / Xbox One / Xbox 360: LEFT, RIGHT, LB, LT, RB, RT, RT, LEFT, LEFT, RIGHT, LB
    • PC: SKYDIVE
    • Cell Phone: 1-999-759-3483

How to Use a Parachute

Using a parachute is relatively easy once you get the hang of it. Gliding is important, especially when you are trying to hit a specific target (like the targets in the "Risk Assessment" Strangers and Freaks missions).

Here's how to use the parachute on the PS5/PS4/PS3

  • Jump from a building or helicopter and press X, this will deploy the parachute.
  • Push the left analog stick forward to speed up, or pull it back to slow down.
  • Use L1 or R2 to make left or right turns or press them at the same time to make a precise landing.
  • For a smoke trail, press and hold X.

Using a Parachute on the PC

Here's how to use the parachute if you're playing on the PC.

  • Jump from a building or helicopter and press the F key or the left mouse button, this will deploy the parachute.
  • Press W to speed up and press S to slow down.
  • Press A and D to make soft left and right turns, and press Q and E to make sharper turns.
