It featured the Ford’s blue-gray Area 51 paint, enhancing its familiar design that tactfully stays clear of controversial elements. The interior matched this extroverted simplicity, prioritizing function without excess, though attention to detail could be better as evidenced by creaking steering wheel controls and a flimsy feeling shifter due to the Ford Work Surface.

Conversely, the 2023 Nissan Frontier adhered closely to its preceding year's design, inspired by the rugged 1986 Nissan Hardbody. For this model year, it embraced a more audacious stance, especially with the introduction of a Midnight Edition that added blacked-out elements, providing a stark contrast to the usually brighter color palette; options like Baja Storm tan and Tactical Green stood out. Inside, the use of Lava Red accents in the Pro-X and Pro-4X trims injected a dose of sportiness not as prevalent in the Ford.
