2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Reviews Summary

Following a substantial refresh for the 2021 model year, the 2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class lineup sees few changes. The most significant of them is the cancelation of AMG E63 and E63 S variants. Reportedly due to supply chain problems, V8 engines are being dropped from much of the 2022 Mercedes-Benz lineup. That leaves the E-Class with turbocharged four-cylinder and six-cylinder power plants.

Additionally, automatic high-beam headlights are standard on all 2022 E-Class models, and a couple of paint colors are new. With the coupe and convertible body styles, rear USB charging ports are now standard equipment.

2023 Acura Integra Reviews Summary

Keeping the liftback body style, the 2023 Integra looks to cash in on two decades of nostalgia as Acura moves away from the lukewarm ILX sedan. In our testing, the Integra proved to be more than lip-service for patient fans. This sharp-shifting, turbocharged sport compact delivers plenty of smiles.

2023 Acura Integra
7/10

The 2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class was available in a variety of body styles, including coupe, convertible, sedan, and station wagon. This range of options was unparalleled in the market. The E-Class sedans came with an E350 model designation, featuring a turbocharged four-cylinder engine, while all variants were available as an E450, powered by a turbo 3.0-liter inline-six with EQ Boost 48-volt mild-hybrid technology. Rear-wheel drive was standard, but 4Matic all-wheel drive was also an option. For driving enthusiasts, the AMG-tuned E-Class models, except for the All-Terrain wagon, offered an AMG E53 model with a more powerful version of the E450’s engine.

In contrast, the 2023 Acura Integra featured a cohesive design language that aligned seamlessly with the larger TLX sedan and the RDX and MDX crossovers. The new Integra replaced the ILX compact sedan, offering a five-door liftback design instead of a traditional four-door sedan style. The Integra was available in three core trim levels: base, A-Spec, and A-Spec with Technology. The base model came with 17-inch alloy wheels, while the A-Spec trim featured 18-inch Shark Gray wheels. The rear end of the Integra was distinctive with a decklid spoiler, dual exhaust outlets, and large taillights.

The 2022 Mercedes-AMG E53 models were equipped with a 3.0-liter turbo-six engine featuring Mercedes' EQ Boost mild-hybrid technology. This system used a 48-volt electrical setup and an integrated starter generator to enhance power output and efficiency. The AMG-tuned engine produced 429 horsepower and 384 pound-feet of torque, delivering robust performance across a wide rev range. Mercedes claimed a 0-60 mph acceleration time of 4.4 seconds. The AMG Speedshift nine-speed automatic transmission and AMG Performance 4Matic+ variable AWD system ensured the power was effectively transferred to the pavement. The E53 Cabriolet also featured an AMG-tuned air suspension and performance exhaust system, with optional 20-inch wheels and summer performance tires.

The 2023 Acura Integra, for the first time, came with a turbocharged engine. The 1.5-liter turbo four-cylinder engine produced 200 horsepower and 192 pound-feet of torque. The A-Spec with Technology trim offered a six-speed manual transmission with a limited-slip differential, while lower trims came with a continuously variable automatic transmission. The manual transmission featured automatic rev-matching technology, making downshifting smooth and efficient. The Integra's suspension provided a sporty yet comfortable ride, and its wide track and long wheelbase contributed to its planted feel through corners. The variable-ratio electric power-steering system adjusted the steering feel based on wheel position, enhancing both highway and cornering performance. The Integra also offered three drive modes: Comfort, Normal, and Sport, with an individual mode for customization.

Form and function

2023 Acura Integra

The 2022 Mercedes-AMG E53 Cabriolet was a true four-passenger convertible, offering comfortable seating for adults in both the front and rear. The Aircap system reduced cabin turbulence when the top was down. The front seats featured heated and ventilated options, along with a neck-warming Airscarf system. The triple-layer acoustic soft top helped maintain a cool and quiet cabin. The trunk offered 9.5 cubic feet of cargo space with the top up, which reduced significantly when the top was down.

The 2023 Acura Integra's liftback design provided practical day-to-day utility, with 24.3 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats. However, the high lift-over height could be a challenge for loading heavy or bulky items. The front seats featured a logical dashboard layout, smartly placed cupholders, and a decent center console cubby. Rear passengers had adequate legroom but limited headroom due to the steeply sloped roofline. The rear seat cushions were notably soft, enhancing passenger comfort.

Technology

The 2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class featured the Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) infotainment system, which included two 12.3-inch screens for the touchscreen and digital instrument cluster. The system supported Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, WiFi service, and an augmented reality video overlay for navigation. The test car also included a Burmester surround-sound audio system. The MBUX system could be controlled via touchscreen, physical controls, voice assistant, or steering wheel buttons, offering a high degree of customization.

The 2023 Acura Integra came standard with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth connectivity, and a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster. The Technology package upgraded the standard 7-inch touchscreen to a 9-inch unit and added a head-up display, wireless charging, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The A-Spec with Technology trim also included a USB-C port for the front seats and two USB-A ports for the rear seats. The ELS Studio 3D premium audio system with 16 speakers was a highlight, providing an exceptional audio experience.

The 2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class included standard safety features such as forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. The E-Class Cabriolet also had pop-up rollbars for rollover protection. The Pre Safe and Pre Safe Sound systems prepared the cabin and occupants for a collision and protected hearing during an impact. The optional Driver Assistance Package added features like adaptive cruise control, lane-centering assistance, and evasive steering assist.

The 2023 Acura Integra set a new standard for safety equipment, offering automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, traffic jam assist, traffic sign recognition, and more as standard features. The A-Spec with Technology trim added low-speed braking control, front and rear parking sensors, and rain-sensing windshield wipers. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration awarded the Integra five out of five stars in crash tests.
