    Hey there

I am currently working on a plugin that I hope to release soon. It’s basically a plugin for both TinyMCE and for CodeIgniter, which allows you to manager images and media files from within TinyMCE. The plugin uses TinyMCE V3, and is extremely lightweight. It basically extends the functionality of the existing advimage tinymce plugin.

The plugin is small, it uses TinyMCE’s API for XHR requests, so you’re only downloading an additional 20kb (non-compressed) of javascript. The backend functionality is achieved through 1 controller file. So all requests are sent through this controller, giving you the ability to fully secure the plugin using your own auth lib. (For example you need to have a ‘users’ table already setup and being used.)

I have got the plugin working on the latest realease of TinyMCE (V3.0.5 - Stable). You can view a demo of a what’s to come here: http://tinycimm.googlecode.com

I haven’t tested the site, nor the plugin, for IE, so I’m not sure what you might expect when using anything other than FireFox. I will be tweaking the plugin to work with most browsers (essentially it should be working with most browsers at this stage, I just haven’t fully tested.)

There’s still a lot of work for me to do, but am planning to release as OS soon now. Any suggestions or queries would be greatly appreciated at this stage 😉

    TinyMCE and CI Rocks!

    Peace, Rich

ugg i tested in ie6 today at work and that site is a mess.. i’m gonna get that sorted soon, problem is i don’t have ie on my ubuntu setup here at home (recent fresh install), so i’m trying a bunch of different options to get that sorted.. but for now the site and demo will only work in FireFox..

    i’m very interested in this.

i use tinyMCE in the backends of client’s websites but the image support is poor at best. This looks much better and you certainly can’t beat the price.

What do you need to do to make it work with IE6? If you just need CSS for IE6 i might be able to help you if you’re interested.

    thanks for the comments.  😉
Charlie spider, essentially all I need is about 30 min with IE6 on a dev environment to get it working for IE6. There’s one or two javascript tweaks, as well as couple CSS tweaks. I guess I was too eager getting this plugin online without proper testing, I can say by next week Monday it will be working on IE6, IE7, FF2+3, Safari and perhaps Opera. Check back soon, i’ll keep this thread updated

    I want this! 😉

Where can I get the code? I played with the demo and looked on Google but I didn’t see a way to play.

    Thanks a million!

We were just getting ready to purchase the MCImageManager from MoxieCode to plugin to TinyMCE (which is still a decent alt when not using CI, other than the price).

    Great timing and great looking…

I don’t want to make any promises at this stage, but I hope to release the code next week sometime. This weekend i’m doing a sprint to get all the errors ironed out, and make it cross browser compatible. I also need to setup the svn and the project page on google code. Hang in there, not long now.

I dare bump this undoubtedly important thread and ask: so, how is it going?

Screenshots look very lovely, demo won’t work though :(
(Image Manager takes ages to load and never finishes loading)

If You release this script, then after seeing the code maybe there will be suggestions and helpful hints 😉

Hmm i’m thinking I should do this before I completely push this project aside. Unfortunately i’ve become overwhelmed with other responsibilities, story of my life.
OK i’m gonna try my absolute best to release the code this weekend.

_Jameson_, what browser are you using? What do you mean by the image manager takes forever to load? Do you mean the image manager dialog as a whole, or just when trying to browse images etc? If you post bugs here: http://code.google.com/p/tinycimm/issues/ then it will make it easier for me to iron them out.
    Peace, Rich

My bad, probably overloaded connection that day, works fine now (Opera 9.27)
Very neat! But there seems to be no support for nested folders, correct?

_Jameson_, you are correct, there is no support for nested folders, at this stage. I’m trying to keep it as lightweight as possible.

Am desperately needing some help to release this project, anyone willing to help please PM me to join the project team. At this stage I need help sorting out the controller which is a mess and the reason why I won’t release. My problem is I have no time to do this, so if anyone is willing to do this and of course get credit please PM me and I will send the files.

Please, could you at least share your custom TinyMCE setup with us? I really like the way tabs are organized. Of course one can find this information by plunging into their online documentation, but if it’s already done, why invent the wheel? Thanks!
