Your most memorable shot of 2024
[edit]Happy New Year! As always at the beginning of the new year, I'm inviting you to share your most memorable shot of the past year. Which of your photos stood out in 2024? Which image created special memories that you'd like to share with others? On behalf of the Commons Photographers User Group I wish you, your family, and your friends all the best for 2025. Culture of New South Wales has been listed at Commons:Categories for discussion so that the community can discuss ways in which it should be changed. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry. If you created this category, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for discussion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it. If the category is up for deletion because it has been superseded, consider the notion that although the category may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new category. In all cases, please do not take the category discussion personally. It is never intended as such. Thank you! |

Making changes before CFD discussions are finished
[edit]Can you explain why you started making changes to City of Orange categories before the CFD was closed? - Chris.sherlock2 (talk) 00:14, 9 May 2025 (UTC)
QUESTION
[edit]Hello is this photo from this website of the NSW State Parliament assembly allowed to be used on wikipedia?--Celco85 (talk) 08:06, 3 July 2025 (UTC)Celco85 https://www.flickr.com/photos/78821753@N03/23427266784
- No, license is restrictive (no commercial use and no derivative work). Bidgee (talk) 08:44, 3 July 2025 (UTC)
Regarding the KFC trademark issue
[edit]Since you want to report me, go ahead — let's see who's actually right
KFC’s trademark cannot be freely or arbitrarily used. If you use it without authorization, KFC can file a lawsuit Now, do you really think this fits the definition of de minimis?
The definition of de minimis is that as long as your photo contains something like the Colonel Sanders portrait trademark, it already falls into this category. Anyone who crops a picture and zooms in on the area with the KFC trademark is directly committing infringement
(Protects the trademark from being registered by others without permission and helps you prevent others from using a trademark that is similar to yours with related goods or services. )

USPTO explains the differences between trademarks, patents, and copyrights
Think about it — why do you think the KFC trademark image isn’t uploaded to Wikimedia on Wikipedia?([1]) Moreover, this trademark image was originally published by KFC's official website!

- Starting from 21:04 (US. time) on July 12, if you have not responded by 21:04 on July 15, I will assume consent and proceed to add it. This is because you have not provided any favorable evidence proving that enlarging and cropping the trademark and uploading it to Wikimedia for arbitrary use does not violate intellectual property rights. YOintment (ここにいるよ) 01:05, 13 July 2025 (UTC)
- {{De minimis}} is not for trademarks, the documentation states “ Mark files with significant {{De minimis}} issues, especially cases that have been subject to deletion requests, to warn reusers.” The photo in question doesn’t meet that and the trademarks are less than 5% of the photograph. Please read Commons:Trademarks Bidgee (talk) 01:53, 13 July 2025 (UTC)
- Sorry, Wikimedia never notified me that you had already replied.
- Since you feel that way, I'll replace it with this:

{{Trademark}}
is a "trademark law" warning — the trademark in the image are not to be used freely.- Are you satisfied now? YOintment (ここにいるよ) 10:53, 17 July 2025 (UTC)
- Template:Trademark:
Use this template only if the trademarked material is in the public domain or is under a free license: for example, if it is ineligible for copyright status, or has been specifically released by the owner under a free-content license such as a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license. In most cases, the {{non-free logo}} template message should be used instead. Text that explicitly identifies the owner of the trademark should optimally be added to the image description page.
