2026 MINI Paul Smith Edition launched in Malaysia – based on Cooper SE EV; limited units, from RM222k

If you’re a fan of English fashion designer Paul Smith, MINI Malaysia has something special to offer you. The company today announced the launch of the MINI Paul Smith Edition, which comes in two colours and will be available in limited numbers.

Based on the all-electric Cooper SE, the Paul Smith Edition retails for RM222,222 on-the-road without insurance and inclusive of a standard two-year, unlimited-mileage warranty. With MINI Service and Repair Inclusive (MSRI) that includes a four-year warranty and service package, the asking price increases to RM228,522. Compared to a regular Cooper SE, you’re paying around RM28k more for the privilege to own something rather exclusive.

Mechanically, the Paul Smith Edition is identical to a Cooper SE, with a 54.2-kWh nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) battery providing up to 402 km following the WLTP standard. AC charging is at a max of 11 kW, while DC fast charging peaks at 95 kW, the latter allowing the battery to get from a 10-80% state of charge in under 30 minutes. This powers a front electric motor rated at 218 PS (215 hp or 160 kW) and 330 Nm of torque, enabling a 0-100 km/h time of 6.7 seconds and top speed of 170 km/h.

In terms of visual highlights, the special edition features Nottingham Green accents on the side mirrors, radiator grille and hub caps. The roof is finished in this hue too, accompanied by Paul Smith’s signature stripes across the roof edge between the B- and C-pillars.

Elsewhere, the 18-inch ‘Slide Spoke’ alloy wheels are finished in Nottingham Green and paired with Dark Steel accents as well as hub caps with the Paul Smith logo. You’ll also notice the Black Blue MINI emblems and ‘Paul Smith’ lettering in Anthracite Grey on the tailgate.

Opening the doors, the side mirror puddle lamps project a friendly ‘hello’ in Smith’s handwriting to greet passengers. The interior features Nightshade Blue JCW Sports seats in Vescin upholstery with a Shadow Stripe knitting on the shoulder and headrest areas as well as a Paul Smith label.

Shadow Stripe upholstery is also used for the dashboard in a manner inspired by Smith’s signature stripe design. On the passenger side of the dashboard is a decorative black leather band with blue stitching, while the door sill trims sport the message “Every day is a new beginning!” in the designer’s handwriting.

Other signature touches include a hand-drawn rabbit motif embroidered into the floor mats, while the steering wheel’s textile band gets a splash of colour following the theme. Even the round touchscreen infotainment system is altered to include three exclusive backgrounds designed by Paul Smith for Personal model, with his signature strips subtly integrated at the upper edge of the display.

As mentioned at the start, the Paul Smith Edition can be had in two colours, the first being Inspired White that is a reinterpretation of the MINI Classic Pepper White. The second option is Statement Grey, which is a blue-tinged grey that pays homage to the MINI Austin Seven colour from 1959.

  • Overpriced junk. Once you go china car like the Proton Emas or BYD, you never go back to garbage Conti vehicles let alone overpriced turds like these European brands arrogantly assuming Malaysia is a good dumping ground for their unsold trash cans on wheels.

I have no idea who Paul Smith is. Can we have “ The Stig Edition “ instead ? The silent driver from Top Gear.

  • MINI simply slaps on some names of celebrities/designers/etc., and ET VOILA it’s a limited special edition.

If that’s the case, I’d like to have a Thed™ Edition, thank you very much.
