GWM Malaysia recently handed over the first CKD locally assembled GWM Wey G9 Hi4 PHEV to Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza. The music icon, who is also the luxury MPV’s brand ambassador, collected her new ride at GWM USJ from Roslan Abdullah, COO of GWM Malaysia.

“We are honoured to present the Wey G9 Hi4 PHEV to Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza as its first owner and brand ambassador. Her professionalism, refined presence and enduring multi-generational appeal align seamlessly with the Wey G9 Hi4 PHEV’s positioning as a premium new energy MPV. Defined by advanced safety, comfort, sophisticated comfort and intelligent technology, the Wey G9 Hi4 PHEV is designed for discerning drivers who value performance, elegance and confidence with every journey,” Roslan said.

“The Wey G9 Hi4 PHEV feels perfectly in tune with my everyday life. Its comfort, spaciousness, and thoughtful design make every journey more relaxed and enjoyable. Whether I’m travelling for work, attending meetings, or spending time with my family, the experience feels smooth, calm, and reassuring. That sense of balance and ease is what I truly value,” the songstress said.

Launch in end-January, the Wey G9 Hi4 PHEV – which is locally assembled at EPMB’s Pegoh, Melaka plant – received over 800 bookings within its first week. The seven-seater is priced at RM269,800 on-the-road without insurance.

The Wey G9 is powered by the latest iteration of GWM’s Hi4 Intelligent Hybrid 4WD system, which is made up of a 150 PS/240 Nm 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine mated to a four-speed dedicated hybrid transmission (DHT), with an integrated 109 PS/170 Nm electric motor driving the front wheels. There’s another 184 PS/232 Nm motor at the rear.

Combined system output is 442 PS (325 kW) and 642 Nm, which allows the big MPV to do the 0-100 km/h sprint in just 5.7 seconds on the way to a 190 km/h top speed. A 44.2 kWh nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) battery provides the G9 with 170 km of NEDC-rated travel (that’s around 145 km in the WLTP cycle) on pure electric power alone. Full specs and details here.
