A two-year old male child was found dead in his mother’s car in Seremban, Negeri Sembilan, yesterday. In the incident, the mother left her car in Jalan Tunku Hassan at 8 am for work in a nearby bank.
An emergency call was received by police at 6.15 pm, said Seremban district police chief ACP Azahar Abdul Rahim. Police investigations revealed the boy was found unconscious in the Proton Saga and later pronounced dead at Tuanku Ja’afar Hospital, before being transferred to Rembau hospital for autopsy.
“The victim’s mother was said to have forgotten to send her child to the daycare and only realised what had happened around 5 pm when she finished work,” said ACP Azahar in a statement. The case is being investigated under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001, with the 35-year old mother arrested to facilitate investigations.
Cases of children being left behind in locked cars is not new, with many fatalities. Parents should be mindful of the safety of their children and try to end the day with the same number of children they started out with.

heavy punishment should be imposed on parents to prevent negligence. this happens too often and too many times. imagine how the child suffered tremendously before they died a tragically. for me as a parent, i make it a point to put a reminder on my Waze and talk to my child in the car or at the very least play some children songs through the car entertainment unit and i will know my child is sitting behind. these are little steps parents can take to ensure that their child will not be left behind.
i guess it should be made a regulation for day cares that did not receive their parcel that day to call to ask
it is truly sad when both parents needs to work just to earn enough to survive. And losing a child in this manner is simply tragic. Semoga dipermudahkan segala urusan.
