If I had a ringgit for every Perodua Kelisa I’ve seen converted into a Daihatsu Mira Gino… anyway, the Kedah road transport department (JPJ) recently detained one on Jalan Ekor Kucing-Padang Serai, Kulim for having been “modified in terms of its structure and vehicle equipment without valid approval.”
A P22 saman notice was issued on the spot, while a PG1 notice and an inspection order notice under Section 61(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 were issued to the owner for taking the vehicle on to the road in a condition that does not comply with the original specifications.
Almost exactly a year ago, the Perak JPJ fined a ‘Kelisa Gino’ owner who, besides converting his car into the retro-cute Daihatsu, transplanted a 1.3 litre engine into it without approval (the Kelisa never left the factory with more than 1,000 cc).
Another instance happened in 2022, also involving the Perak JPJ. The owner was served a notice to inspect and instructed to revert his Kelisa to its original identity. Changing a vehicle’s identity without permission is an offence, even if it’s just swapping badges – learn more here.

Bet the owner and its supporters will be rallying support against JPJ and its minister with their “Kenapa dulu boleh…” rhetoric.
The owner better hire a good lawyer because PT did report that JPJ had caught another owner for a similar offence last year.
These walaun are trying to discredit Anthony Loke . It’s just another law enforcement. What do motorists got to lose ?
Would a Gino bumper swap but retain Perodua badges work?
great!
so wira and inspira evos “converts” are next
what year is it ? majority of wiralutions already scrapped long ago.
there are a fair few Alphard to LEXUS conversions on the road too
this kelisa probably had been modified 10-20 years ago during BN time , now only jpj finally managed to catch it in year 2026, so this is thanks to which gomen and which PM
So jpj got time on their hands for this but no time to impound cars with modified plates or fully black tinted front windows and motorcyclists running red lights, something we see on a daily basis and is an actual danger? Modifying a 1.0 car to a 1.3 is a serious national security risk lmao
paying 1.0 road tax on a 1.3 engine is kinda illegal no?
maybe u should try frequently committing those offences u described & see how long it takes before your luck runs out & u get caught
I remember this kind of car putus at Bukit Putus few years ago.
yet the RXZ gang continue to ride with their heavily modified, unsafe for road bikes all over the country. even invited to Melaka by the current Chief Minister.
