Perodua Traz teased again – Toyota Yaris Cross-based B-segment SUV to launch in Malaysia 11am tomorrow

UPDATE: The Perodua Traz has been launched from RM76k.

Yet another teaser has been released by Perodua for its upcoming model, which the national carmaker indicates is just one day away from debut. As with its previous teaser, the crossover codenamed D66B that is tipped to be named the Traz is shown within shadows, this time offering a view of its side profile.

Much of its basic form will take after the Toyota Yaris Cross that has been in the Indonesia and Thailand markets since 2023, albeit with detail differences which will set the Perodua apart from its Toyota relation.

2023 Toyota Yaris Cross, Thailand market

For reference, the Yaris Cross in Indonesia gets a 2NR-VE 1.5 litre naturally-aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine that makes 106 PS and 138 Nm, and this paired with either a five-speed manual or a CVT for that market. In Thailand, the B-SUV gets a hybrid powertrain pairing a 91 PS/121 Nm 2NR-VEX 1.5 litre NA four-cylinder with an 80 PS/141 Nm e-motor for a combined 111 PS.

Much is shared between the Traz and the Toyota Yaris Cross, and the latter has scored a five-star ASEAN NCAP rating in August this year. Its positioning above the Ativa means its pricing can be expected to be higher than that model’s RM62,500 starting price, and which ranges up to RM73,400 for the AV variant’s two-tone paint option. Pricing, and more about the Perodua Traz will be revealed when it launches tomorrow.

After the EV debacle, people also don’t put much attention to this “new launching of old model’.

This latest P2 definitely give some cheers for disappointed P2 fanboys, who disliked the P2 Ev,with the disastrous battery rental issue.

The only people proud and still feel optimistic of this brand are those Hardcore Patriotic Malaysians
Let’s not forget they used our tax paid money and wasted RM800+ million on their EV
    and it flopped
It goes to show you as long those Greedy Cronies still remain in Sime Darby and P2,
Forgot about progressing, they only want to make big bucks.

P2 is overpriced due to its “Toyota” image. If no relation to T-brand then it’s unlikely to sell well for overpriced models.

I hope they roll out a hybrid version too. The thing I dislike about Perodua is they tended to over ornamentalised their vehicles with plasticky add-ons especially at the front and rear bumpers.

Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0
    • now that its launch you know already, simplicity means bare minimum given, the same tactic toyota use for decades to earn our money.

This is straight out of P1 marketing playbook. Tease and tease and tease. They can’t just launch a car and hope it explode in popularity like they used to, especially not after their 100%? national car battery rental scheme.
