Zeekr has launched a crowdfunding campaign in China to upgrade the driver assistance hardware and software systems on older 001 and 009 models, specifically those sold for the 2024 model year.
As reported by Autohome, the company announced the campaign on its official Weibo page inviting customers seeking the upgrade to sign up from November 24 to December 24 this year. According to the posting, the subsidised upgrade package for the 001 is priced at 13,500 yuan (about RM7.9k), while it is 18,500 yuan (RM11k) for the 009.
Without subsidies that come in the form of a voucher, the packages go for 33,500 and 38,500 yuan (RM19k and RM22k) respectively. The company targets at least 3,000 participants for the 001 upgrade, while 1,500 participants for the 009 in order for the campaign to move to the next stage.
Through the campaign, the Mobileye EyeQ5H system capable of 48 TOPS (tera operations per second) in these older cars will be replaced with Zeekr’s own G-Pilot H7 system, which is built on Nvidia’s Drive Thor-U architecture to deliver up to 700 TOPS of computing power. Upgrading to the newer H7 requires replacing chips, rewiring harnesses and re-architecting system deployments. The 001 is said to require nearly 60 individual parts replaced, with the labour taking over 20 hours.
Following the upgrade, more ADAS functions will be available to customers, including Navigation Zeekr Pilot (NZP) high-speed autonomous pilot assist system, Hone Zone Park Assist (HPA) and General Automated Evasion System (G-AES) emergency steering assist, among others. Development costs and some hardware expenses will be borne by Zeekr, with the company reportedly spending 200 million yuan (RM116 million) to develop and validate the retrofit upgrade.

They update too fast… the car just launched last year and already consider as “old”.
Welcome to EV world. Guess how much their resale value is… Or isn’t.
What is the ADAS system that Malaysia version is using?
It’s a hand phone on wheels
Very unique idea of crowd funding for the upgrade.
