We’re one step closer to the launch of the 2026 Proton Saga MC3, and the procession is now at the open for booking stage, which means that after this chicane we’ll be on the final straight.

Yes, you can now put down your name for a new Saga. The indicative price range is between RM40k and RM50k, revealed by the Proton’s new deputy CEO Datuk Abdul Rashid Musa in a livestream moments ago, where Proton also announced an early bird launch package – more on this later.

You should be already very familiar with the latest Saga, more so if you were at the paultan.org ACE 2025 show last weekend, where a camouflaged unit was available for everyone to touch, feel and sit in. We’ve covered the budget sedan extensively too, and you can dive deep into the sea of details here.

2026 Proton Saga MC3 official est price RM40k to RM50k – now open for booking, 1-year free service

In a nutshell, the Saga MC3 gets a new 120 PS/150 Nm 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine (NA, non-DI version of the X50 facelift’s motor), three variants (Standard, Exec, Premium), two types of automatic transmissions (4AT and CVT for the Premium) and a re-engineered platform (reinforced and now called AMA, four-star ASEAN NCAP).

Other highlights include a new face and tail (LEDs lights, finally), fresh dashboard with two digital displays housed in a single long frame (wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto), up to six airbags and Level 1 ADAS from a monocular camera (Premium-only, two airbags/no ADAS for the rest).

Again, to learn more about the new Saga, you can go technical with us, discover the spec differences between Executive and Premium and read our brief drive impressions of the CVT-equipped Premium.

Finally, the launch package. Proton is giving one year of free service (or 20k km, parts and labour) plus a special edition Saga Touch n Go card to those who place a booking from today till the launch date, which is yet to be announced. The car must be registered before the year ends, and the offer is limited to 20,000 units. So, RM40k to RM50k – what do you think?

I am baffled by the fact that they only gave 2 airbags for lower variant, should have offer the lower variants with 4 instead of 2 really disappointed. Hope Perodua don’t screw up their airbags amount on the new bezza (if there’s any) Proton always found a way to screw things up with their product offering, then later wonder where did they gone wrong. But there’s no denying that this is peak Saga for sure, just that the amount of airbags on lesser variant is a joke of the century, specially when we are a month away from entering 2026.

I would buy the rm50k premium, but dun wan the punch gearbox. Hopefully the cvt is a new version with torque converter.

Actually same here, i want the 4AT, also want the safety features of the premium… no such option? Tak jadi lah!

    • A more accurate statement would be: The Saga MC3’s CVT (often considered an improved VT3) changed its starting/engagement mechanism from a traditional hydraulic torque converter (like the VT2/VT3 of earlier Exora/Preve/Personas) to a wet clutch (but it is still a CVT). This change was made to allow for a more direct acceleration response.

Saga is a budget car and the people’s car. it should be RM35k to RM45k at most.

and yet saga has 120bhp which will smoke the vios that had less power and yet costs double price.

Even at 45k someone will say 40k is right.

A carmaker has a cost base. They then have market intel which tells them what is the market’s willingness to pay for a product of such size, features and finishes. They will price it at a level the majority is willing to pay, plus some upwards leeway, so they will get a margin even after a special discount along the way (festive, special occasion, special editions etc).

If Proton rugi yang bising puak sama gak.

    • Man, the smaller Axia with 1.0 engine and less features already breach 50k. On what reasons do you think the Saga should be cheaper than the less substantial Axia, other than just to troll like you are known for?

    • A segment sedan – Bezza 1.3L 95PS priced RM44k – RM50k.
      A segment sedan – Saga 1.5L 120PS priced RM40k – RM50k, It’s already very cheap.

Already booked Executive Space grey yesterday. Nice car, clear view from driver’ side, when engine rev. sounds very sporty. Will register by year-end, and get all the goodies.

If tis is really the selling price then Perodua Beza can say bye-bye to their current number 1 top seller :P2 stil on year end holiday mood.

    • That Guy on Nov 12, 2025 at 12:01 pm

I’d say wait and see first P2’s response, if there even is one (since they’re only committing to 2 cars reportedly the Nexis and the QV-E). There’s also brand loyalty to consider, as in Proton has not had a lot of it for a very long time. But you people never learn, it’s the S70 all over again.

      “Bye2 City/Vios! The S70 is here!”

… and not selling so bad that they’re considering significant updates to it 2 years into launch.

iriz was suppose to be B-segment, also iriz priced was higher than saga

    • Saga is A segment. Iriz is B segment.
How to compare ? And 15″ tyres are always cheaper to replace anyways

because iriz is B-segment and also higher price than saga

      • How ironic, usebrain.

        Maybe 5k price difference?

        Engine size, 1.5 vs 1.6.

        LOL

yeah you answered your own question. iriz costs more, bigger engine, so logically it should use bigger wheels right ?

  • Have they solve the after sales service?

Thumb up 9 Thumb down 6
    • All these service centres are typically owned and managed by independent dealer groups. You may need checking the Google reviews and local reputation of the nearest Proton 3S/4S centre is often more important than the brand’s overall service reputation.

I’m thinking what mighty fun it would be to have the 1.5 NA engine swapped with the turbo version currently in the X50. 290Nm and 180hp on a 1.1 ton car! Give it a good remap and can easily get >300Nm and >200hp. Can give even the Golf GTI a run for its money..hehe
