Full-time e-hailing drivers will receive an increased monthly fuel quota, to 800 litres, under the Budi Madani RON 95 (Budi95) targeted fuel subsidy programme, prime minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has announced today, reported Malay Mail.
The decision to raise the RON 95 quota for e-hailing drivers to 800 litres from the previous 600 litre quota was made after receiving feedback that the amount was insufficient for drivers. “Therefore, the government has agreed to increase the Budi95 eligibility limit for e-hailing drivers to 800 litres per month,” the prime minister said, adding that the amount was equivalent to a travel distance of around 5,000 km.
“At the same time, the government has also agreed for airport taxis to be included among vehicles eligible for subsidised RON 95 under the Subsidised Petrol Control Scheme (SKPS),” the prime minister added.
Earlier this month, the Malaysian government announced that the RON 95 quota for full-time e-hailing drivers has been doubled to 600 litres, up from the regular 300 litre quota for all other eligible users.
Through the Budi95 scheme, all Malaysian citizens with a valid driving licence are eligible to purchase RON 95 petrol at the subsidised rate of RM1.99 per litre at an allocation of 300 litres per month. From the start of the targeted subsidy initiative on September 30, non-subsidised RON 95 petrol was priced at RM2.60 per litre.

Grab is a multi billion USD LISTED ENTITY in USA, why is my hard earned duit rakyat going to subsidize them??
Also what is he talking 800 liter equaling 5000km. 800 litres gives you from 8000 to 12000km in most local and Asian cars. Such poor data and information utilized in policy
Not picking sides but if the fuel is not subsidised, rates will go up so that’s not good as well.
800L=5,000km=16L/100km. Sounds high but assuming a worst case scenario of heavy traffic with some buffer its pretty ok.
Not possible to please everyone.
Assume Myvi is about 5L/100km
For 800L/mth, the ehailing guy would be raking 17,700km per month
That’s an average 680km/day (less 4 Sundays). That’s KL – Parit Buntar to and fro.
Make sense?
They just want to selllah.
Grab and other ehailing company does entitle to much subsidised RON95. ehailing driver should be compensated fairly based on prevailing fuel price plus the workhour and vehicle depreciation.
Grab and other ehailing compensation rate should be scrutized if they actually take advantage of their employees or drivers. that mechanism to audit and come up with fair compensation mechanism should established and made clear. not our government take care of drivers of a company by subsiding the eventual billion ringgit company
grab is incorporated in singpaore not usa.
Here we have a small boy who doesn’t understand Us listing
usa listing so what ? grab is based in singapore right. in fact they dont even operate in usa.
Too illiterate comment to respond
so e-hailing going to make a fuss again to say 800 litres is not enough? they wanted at least 1000 litres. maybe these drivers are selling it.
fisherfolk can sell diesel, so its only fair that grab drivers should be entitled to same side income
Minus the 300l of which everyone gets, e hailing drivers will get extra 500l. My car with the highest FC will get 9km/l in city traffic so at least 4500km there. Since none of e hailing drivers drives a Pajero LO47 petrol then they can easily get at least 5000km with that extra quota.
If gomen have data to back the extra quota given then i am fine. If not….please revise to avoid misuse.
I know its possible to reach such mileage as i have reached 10k km a month once during my previous work. During that time 5k km to 8k km a month is normal.
E hailing is like self employed business. Why are public money being used to subsidized their income . If you give 800 litres now those bastard will eventually ask for more. The smart way is to give at 600 first .
This makes no sense, Grab is a PRIVATE company, why is the gomen so keen on helping them? By this logic, shouldn’t private hospitals be entitled to subsidized medicines? Or private schools be subsidized to books? Where’s the logic
Why is the government subsidising Grab? Are other companies entitled to subsidy too?
How about those that cant drive 5k km/month? Some ppl i knew they complaint they only got 300liter quota coz they cant reach 3k km per mth currently. These r housewife/husband, retiree tht do ehailing whenever they can, by juggling with the house chores, etc. Gment shld also provide additional quota to those part timer, ie. 300 for personal & additional 200 liter for doing ehailing. As i understood, the km requirement r based on confirmed trip,( correct me if i’m wrong). So it is only fair to them coz they also paid the same amount to register as ehailing driver, i.e. psv license, puspakom inspection, ehailing insurance, etc.
