MG4 EV 101 Edition in Malaysia – side decals, Union Jack roof design; based on 520 km Lux ER; fr RM130k

To celebrate the 101st anniversary of Morris Garages, MG Motor Malaysia has introduced a special version of the MG4 dubbed the 101 Edition. Priced at RM129,536 on-the-road without insurance and based on the existing Lux Extended Range that retails for the same amount (RM128,888 without OTR costs and insurance), the 101 Edition features unique design touches to mark it out as the celebratory model.

On the roof, you’ll find a Union Jack design with ‘One of one’ across the centre. Meanwhile, the doors get a white decal with ‘101 Edition’ under the side mirror. These are the only visual standouts of the 101 Edition, which can only be had with a Dynamic Red or Holborn Blue exterior, both with a dual-tone interior.

The Lux Extended Range powertrain features a 77-kWh nickel cobalt manganese (NCM) battery that is good for up to 520 km of range following the WLTP standard. It powers a rear electric motor rated at 245 PS (241 hp or 180 kW) and 350 Nm of torque, enabling a 0-100 km/h time of 6.1 seconds.

The MG4 EV supports AC charging at up to 11 kW, with a full charge requiring 6.2 hours. There’s also DC fast charging capped at 135 kW that will get the battery from a 10-80% state of charge in 38 minutes.

Standard equipment include 18-inch wheels, automatic projected LED headlamps with DRLs, an active grille, leather seat upholstery, a powered driver’s seat, single-zone climate control, a wireless charging pad, a seven-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, six speakers, six airbags and an ADAS suite (AEB, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, lane keep assist, lane change assist, traffic jam assist).

OMG, this is desperation. UK don’t do such hideous design. Misleading people with a Union Jack won’t change the fact it’s a Shanghainese company.

    • If follow your logic:‐
1)Range Rover and Jaguar are Indian
      2)Mini, Rolls-Royce are German
      3)Mclaren is Abu Dhabi
      4)Aston Martin is Canadian
      5)Vauxhall is American

      • These brands still carrying their brand’s legendary design that made the brands renowned. Unlike this one that come out with hideous design.

Why are they not proud of their own country flag? If they are not confident, how to persuade buyers?

because car buyers especially in malaysia love the UK country flag for some reason, so they obviously will cater to buyers prefer taste

same reason as how they named their self-driving car feature “Gods Eye” because they know this name will appeal to 66% MM malaysian buyers preference

not so long ago, there was a big hue and cry because malaysians display the flag of some other country, so i hope that answers your question. only some foreign flags are safe to be displayed while others are forbidden
