Ahead of this year’s Japan Mobility Show, Nissan has revealed a new limited edition of the Skyline sedan that has remained in its 13th generation (V37) since 2014. Called the 400R Limited, only 400 units will be offered to customers beginning November 13, with deliveries set to commence later from December 18.
The Skyline sedan is also known as the Infiniti Q50, and the 400R is equivalent to the Red Sport 400 of the latter. Under the bonnet, the 400R Limited sports the familiar VR30DDTT 3.0 litre twin-turbo V6 that serves up 405 PS (400 hp or 298 kW) and 475 Nm of torque. The petrol engine sends drive to the rear wheels through a seven-speed 7M-ATx automatic transmission.
Likely a swansong offering, the 400R Limited is the most expensive version of the Skyline sedan on sale in Japan, priced at 6,935,500 yen (about RM191k). For context, the regular 400R for 6,495,500 yen (RM179k), while the GT Type P and GT Type SP with a less powerful VR30DDTT making 304 PS (300 hp or 224 kW) and 400 Nm are 5,442,800 (RM150k) and 5,723,300 yen (RM158k) respectively.
For the premium paid over the 400R, the Limited model gets 19-inch aluminium wheels that are wider front and rear to accommodate the staggered Dunlop SP Sport Maxx GT 600 tyres that are 245/40 front and 265/35 rear in profile.
This improves dynamic performance along with the 4% stiffer spring rate at the front, while the rear stabiliser spring rate is up by 44%. The 400R Limited also comes with more fade-resistant brake pads for consistent performance at high temperatures.
In terms of aesthetics, carbon-fibre is used for the rear boot lid spoiler and side mirror covers. The model also gets a distinctive Limited badge at the rear, while the interior is fitted with a serial number plate, accompanied by carbon trim on the centre console.
The 400R Limited is a new addition to go along with updates to the Skyline sedan, including the introduction of a new Wangan Blue exterior colour and improved detection capabilities for the vehicle’s automatic emergency braking system to meet current regulations.
We should point out that Nissan offered a Nismo version of the Skyline in the past, which packs more power and costs more than the new 400R Limited. That model has also a Limited option with an even larger price tag.

I hope I’m not the only one but the rear looks exactly like a Mazda 3 BM!

except for the front grill, everything else looks similar to my 2017 Q50….including the head and back lights
This is why Nissan keep falling behind, specs aside… The look… cant match to most New and modern we have nowadays… yet it cant even match the elegant and beauty of the past Skyline
