In conjunction with the launch of the Kawasaki Technical Centre in Glenmarie, Modenas also launched the 2025 Kawasaki Z900 naked sports. There are two versions available – the Standard at RM47,900 and the ‘SE’ at RM60,100.
Getting its global launch in 2024, the Z900 comes with all new bodywork, following the Kawasaki ‘Sugomi’ design language. The LED headlights on the Z900 are more compact while the rear headlight eschews the ‘Z’ motif, now using a light-guiding LED unit with a ‘H’ shape.
The engine remains the same, with an inline four-cylinder displacing 948 cc, but Kawasaki has reworked the engine to give more linear acceleration and better fuel efficiency. Power output is rated at 123 hp at 9,500 rpm with a peak torque of 97.4 m at 7,700 rpm, going to the rear wheel via six-speed, slip and assist clutch equipped gearbox with up-and-down quickshifter and chain final drive.
The Z900 now gets a new Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) that now gives three-mode traction control and ABS, taking input from the lean angle. There are four ride modes, including one customisable mode.
Inside the cockpit, there is a 5-inch TFT-LCD screen that features Bluetooth connectivity to Kawasaki’s Rideology app. This allows for turn-by-turn navigation on-screen as well as voice command.
To increase rider comfort, the seat is now made from a thicker material, while seat height remains the same at 830 mm, courtesy of a slight redesign to the rear subframe. Suspension is done with 41 mm upside-down forks and a monoshock in the rear, both adjustable for preload and rebound, with the Z900 SE getting an Ohlins S26 monoshock.
Braking is also upgraded, with twin 300 mm diameter discs on front wheel stopped by Nissin four-piston callipers while the rear wheel gets a 250 mm disc and single-piston calliper. Meanwhile, the Z900 SE gets four-piston Brembo 4.32 Monobloc callipers, along with stainless steel braided hoses.
Weight for the Z900 is listed at 213 kg, with 17-litres of fuel carried in the tank. For the Z900 SE, it tips the salsas at 1 kg more, coming in at 214 kg.

The Paultan’s Malay version saying RM47,800 for standard version while eng version mentioned RM100 more. I wonder why aaa lain lain price?
I see theres cruise control on the SE model, does the normal model have cruise control too?
Yup CC on both versions. The SP has upgraded suspension rear and front.
Why the sudden raise of prices ? Quality issues at the Modenas assembly plant for Z900 until they have to bring in CBU Thailand from Kawasaki Motors Thailand Limited ?
This cannot be true because Modenas only CKD Kawasaki models up to 650cc – Could you share some more info on this allegation? Thanks !!
What happen to the Z800… Has it been obsoleted?
The looks of this model is destroying the looks of the original Z900 and the Z900RS.
This looks like Kawasaki, just bore out the Z800 engine and make it 948 cc and slot it into a beefed up Z800 chassis!
I still prefer the Z900 and the Z900RS.
If i get my promotion at the end of this year, the Z900RS will be in my house!
The Z800 have been discontinued for the longest time and been replaced by Z900. The z800 actually feels heavier compare with z900 and the z900 handles better than the z8.
While I disagree that it is destroying the original looks of the z900 but to eachs own.
The z900rs will definitely be a great addition in your house and good luck for your promotion.
