According to road transport department (JPJ) senior enforcement director Datuk Muhammad Kifli Ma Hassan, some lorry drivers are being defiant against Ops Perang Kenderaan Lebih Muatan (Operation War Against Overloaded Vehicles) by jettisoning their loads and turning off their engines and global positioning systems (GPS), Utusan Malaysia reports.
The drivers are believed to have been told by businessmen or company owners to do so, he said, adding that one load jettisoning case happened on Friday at Negeri Sembilan’s Jalan Labu, while another involving turning off the engine and GPS occurred on the Federal Highway, which caused a big traffic jam.
“The situation forced JPJ to ask for Kuala Lumpur City Hall‘s (DBKL) help to tow the lorry away,” Muhammad Kifli told reporters yesterday, adding that the irresponsible actions led to disruption and congestion, and that transport minister Anthony Loke and JPJ director-general Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli have been informed.
“We (JPJ) will not compromise with offences committed by lorry drivers. JPJ will send a report to the Land Public Transport Agency (APAD) to recommend the suspension or cancellation of the lorry permit. We will suspend the goods driving licences (GDL) of drivers who refuse to cooperate,” he said, adding that the three-day operation (October 14-16) recorded 28 cases and all the lorries involved were seized.

What would one expect if it was the practice permissible under table for decades.
well, seize and scrap these lorries that are defiant, with the drivers in it, habis cerita
If cooperate with JPJ, they get unreasonable fine up to 500k per offence. It feels as if having permit revoked and and losing driving license is a much lighter sentence here.
Terminate GDL not a solution. Company can just hire another driver. The driver also can just simply drive the lorry without licence. Many have done it. Seize the lorry, fine the company. Terminate their permits.
too busy to enforce rules because selling number plate previously
Many Malaysian think that this has nothing to do with them and the transportation companies should be heavily fined and punished. But bear in mind that all these government red tape will increase cost of housing and goods as everything needs transportation. In the end it is the rakyat who bears the higher cost of living.
So you want to commoners to bear the risk of accident and losing life while on the road, so to reduce the ‘red tapes’ requirement for these commercial lorries?
there is some truth here. but this enforcement is badly needed. for decades we turn our eyes away and almost zero enforcement. it has to stop! we need this enforcement even though it may impact our cost of transportation. but with open competition we hope it will be reasonable increase in cost. we have been running on low cost at the price of roadkills.
Looks like for ages, they are smarter than the lawmaker, all those top people in related agencies.
