The Chery Tiggo 9 will be headed to the Malaysian market in the first half of 2026, Chery Corporate Malaysia has confirmed.

Not to be confused with the Chinese domestic market Tiggo 9 that is sold elsewhere as the Jaecoo J8, the Tiggo 9 will be offered in Malaysia with the manufacturer’s CSH plug-in hybrid powertrain. Measuring 4,795 mm long with a wheelbase of 2,770 mm, size-wise the Tiggo 9 goes between the Tiggo 8 Pro and the Jaecoo J8.

Powertrain for the Tiggo 9 CSH is a 1.5 litre turbocharged petrol plug-in hybrid, comprised of 156 PS/220 Nm from the ICE and two electric motors driving the front wheels; one with 102 PS and 170 Nm, and the other makes 122 PS and 220 Nm. Combined, the powertrain makes 381 PS and 610 Nm, propelling the Tiggo 9 CSH from 0-100 km/h in 8.9 seconds.

Currently, there is no indication regarding price for the Tiggo 9 in Malaysia. In terms of PHEV SUVs, the Chery line-up features the Tiggo 8 PHEV and Tiggo 7 PHEV, which were launched in Malaysia earlier this month at RM159,800 and RM129,800 respectively. How much do you think the Tiggo 9 plug-in hybrid will be priced when it goes on sale in Malaysia?

If it’s smaller siblings is priced around RM159,800 and RM129,800, this one sure will go for RM170K and above, but the highest spec probably won’t touch RM200K mark, they have OMODA or iCar for that pricing.

Ahhh, yes. The J8, I forgot about it, Thank you for that. but isn’t Jaecoo a separate identity of Chery in MY??? The J8 is currently the Flagship vehicle in Jaecoo Lineup, but Chery so far their most expensive car or Flagship car is the Tiggo 8 CSH??? No? Because if the Jaecoo J8 is the Flagship of Chery lineup under the Chery group, that will make the Tiggo 9 CSH in a very weird position imo. Chery lineup is very damn confusing cause in mainland, the J8 is called the Tiggo 9 CD-M/Fulwin T10 , but here, they market it under their Jaecoo brand and name it the J8, this Tiggo 9 CSH is actually related to our Jaecoo J8. I have a feeling this one might probably be the Flagship of Chery vehicle in MY but I could be wrong.

  • So will it be the same spec as what our neighbour in Indonesia got, the AWD? Cause from what I read from the article it only says that it got 2 motors both driving the front wheel? Correct me if I’m wrong tho.

And most importantly I just want a thorough review of the 2nd and 3rd row seat.

Not much, but it’s closely related to the Jaecoo J8, because It’s basically a Jaecoo J8 with a Chery badge slapped in front of it with Chery’s own design flair tucked on it of course.
