Proton has announced its group sales numbers for September 2025, revealing that it delivered 13,395 units (domestic and export) last month, which is 1,833 units – or 12.04% – less than the 15,228 units it managed in August. This brought its total sales in Q3 to 42,141 units and the year-to-date (YTD) volume to 114,297 units, the latter being 0.9% ahead of the same period last year.
The company added that its market share for the month is estimated at 23.4%, while its YTD market share stands at 19.9%. In terms of model specific performance, no surprise as to the brand’s best seller being the Saga yet again. With 6,058 units shifted last month, this makes it the third consecutive month sales of the sedan have passed the 6,000 unit mark.
Elsewhere, the new X50 continued to perform strongly, with 3,438 units being delivered in the model’s second full month of sales, resulting in it becoming its segment leader and the overall best-selling SUV in the country. Up to the end of September, YTD sales for the SUV stood at 21,154 units, which is 24.4% ahead of the volume recorded last year.
No monthly numbers were provided for the X70, with the brand simply indicating that YTD numbers up to September for the SUV stood at 6,033 units, 10.1% ahead of its volume from the same period in 2024.
As for the X90, 194 units were sold in September. Meanwhile, 979 units of the S70 sedan were sold last month, placing it between the Persona and Iriz, which achieved sales of 1,161 and 278 units respectively.
The eMas 7 continues to be the most popular EV in the country, with the 845 units sold in September bringing its total sales to 6,656 units in nine months. With the impending arrival of the eMas 5 and the commencement of local assembly at its new EV plant in Tanjong Malim, the company said it is looking to a significant increase in its EV sales performance come 2026.
“The third quarter has been exceptionally good for the company and we plan to carry this momentum into the final three months of the year to both meet our volume target and act as a springboard for 2026,” said Proton Edar deputy CEO Zhang Qiang.
Export numbers were also mentioned, with the automaker’s export focused subsidiary, Proton International Sales Corporation, recording sales of 815 units last month. This brings YTD export sales to 3,959 units, 56% ahead of the previous year. Leading the export charge was the X50, with volume this year growing by 220%, while 443 units of the eMas 7 have been exported so far in 2025.

10 years of collaborating with new partner, a giant from China – Proton could have been able to target 300k units in new car sales (to be back in the black and financially healthy). 114k is far away from that figure, nothing to be proud of when it had launched 4 all new models, badge engineered of Geely (X50, X70, X90, S70)
At the most,P1 will end up with 175K units by Dec31.
Nothing to shout about, given so much bantuan and past bailouts.
Last whole decade,Perodua has been the runaway blockbuster performer.
Proton acting as if they are a huge success with their sales figures. The saga being their main seller every month only proves that they have not won over the majority of middle class consumers. Instead, they continue to mainly compete in the lower income market where Perodua still dominates massively. The only hope they have of pushing sales beyond 200k is to export. Unfortunately, they seem to be unable to do so with any measure of success. How long more must they be protected with results like these?
Solid proof that Proton able to survive without much tongkat anymore.
