Make sure your MyKad chip works, in order to unlock subsidised RON95 petrol at RM1.99 a litre – Saifuddin

You’ve all seen the recent viral video, so you know that your Malaysian identity card (MyKad) is soon going to be needed if you want to buy subsidised RON 95 petrol at RM1.99 a litre (assuming you’re eligible for it). Now, home minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail has urged the public to check their MyKads to ensure the chip is functioning well, according to a Bernama report.

“If the chip is damaged or unreadable, do not worry. You may visit any national registration department (JPN) office or counter nationwide. God willing, the repair will be completed on the same day. It is easy and fast! Do not wait until the last minute. Carry out an early check so that you and your friends can benefit from this special petrol subsidy,” he said today on Facebook.

Alhamdulillah, the prime minister will keep his promise to the people of Malaysia. God willing, the price of RON 95 petrol will be reduced to RM1.99 per litre by the end of this month. Although it takes some time, he stands by his word. A man of his word, every promise made will be fulfilled for the benefit of the people of Malaysia,” he said.

so if we pay for petrol using setel then how ? does anyone know ? if must go to counter for verification there will surely be insane lines at the petrol pump every time we need to fuel up no ?? if this is the case, then sigh…one step forward, two steps backwards as with the case with most things here unfortunately.

you truly don’t need to be so passive aggressive with this response. it’s a genuine concern. even without this methodology some petrol stations are pretty packed so it’s not even about complaining for the sake of complaining, it’s more about how we can make this work by integrating it with the current apps malaysians already use. surely it can be done. apps are mostly already linked to our ic already, especially those that involve payments of any kind. lowkey pretty selfish of you with your “if you don’t want to queue then pay full price” mentality because that’s such a privileged thing to say. you should advocate for bettering the life of all malaysians, not just yours.

well most people still make purchases the old fashioned way by paying with cash , or tapping their credit card. i didnt hear bashers yelling and screaming when paying use cash or card, so this is no different.

ok so what do you think will happen now when you make people who used to just pay at the pump with their card/app go to the counter as well ?? as it is during rush hour there is usually a lot of cars waiting to refuel and a line of people waiting to pay at the counter. paying at the pump using card/app was just a way of optimizing things and making things efficient. drive in, tap to pay, refuel, leave. so now you need to drive in, line up, and wait for some sort of system to verify if you qualify for the subsidy, then baru can refuel then leave. it’s just an added step. like i said. no one is complaining for the sake of complaining. just why not integrate the tools already in place…to make lives of Malaysian (yes, including yours), easier. not necessarily a hard concept to grasp…

hopefully once it’s actually finalized they announce that they will integrate this with mobile apps because it’s quite literally the most logical thing to do…or at least they work towards doing so. and this way it’s way it’s a one time verification type of thing instead of every time refueling kind of thing.

Even driving in carpark, nowadays, most of them do not have ticketing machine. They rely on cashless transaction.. theme park ticket can already buy online, and no longer wait to queue for parking.. you are so bloody outdated!!

Should have just made it 1 price without subsidy. And give tax return incentives for lower income (in cash) or 1 time handouts. Later company cars will just use their drivers salary IC to fill up gas for fleet and directors cars. Or people having larger tanks and selling it at rm2.20 and then talk about corruption and leakages, its because the system at is core permits it.

There’s a super simple system instead of using mykad. Just use number plate recognition – all cars receive maximum 100 l subsidized petrol. Car plate is linked to jpj, only privately registered cars to Malaysians qualify – merc bmw Porsche audi all disqualified. Jpj can disqualify specific models above 200k by discretion. Regardless age, if you want a luxury car, pay luxury petrol. I drive a Merc. Yes there are leakages every system got leakage this has the least leakage. Enough.

1.my 1st sedan i can save RM 3.61 per full tank.
2.my 2nd sedan can save RM1.61 per full tank.
3.my 4×4 i can save RM 3.67 per full tank.
4.my EX5 i can save RM 0.18 per full tank.

Does it worth the trouble to went to the counter and handout my IC and wait for verification?
    Totally not worth it.

This IC move is really smart…some might not even bother to provide ic as the savings is next to nothing unless u fill up everyday….still limited to monthly quota. Gomen should have more to spend elsewhere and they should not bark again that they are paying this much for subsidy.
