Jaecoo J7 Raya promo – interest rate from just 0.8%, two years free service for the RM138,800 2WD variant

Have you been considering the Jaecoo J7, which is ‘everywhere’ these days if you’re in the Klang Valley. If you’ve been having thoughts, here’s a carrot in the form of low interest rates and free service.

Jaecoo Malaysia’s Hari Raya Aidilfitri promotion is dangling interest rate from as low as 0.8% per annum plus two years (or 40,000 km) of free service and maintenance. The catch? This deal is only available for the J7 2WD, and not the AWD.

This could indirectly hint at the front-wheel-drive version being less popular than the AWD, but think about it – if you’re only going to use the J7 on-road, what’s the problem with FWD? At RM138,800, it’s RM10k cheaper than the AWD and it won’t be obvious that you went for the 2WD.

That’s because kit wise, both share the same long list of standard equipment. The exterior sports 19-inch two-tone alloys (red brake calipers peeking through), LED front and rear lights (full width at the back, of course) and a powered tailgate. Inside, the J7 gets leather seats, dual-zone climate control with N95 air purifier, a 50W cooled wireless charger, 64-colour ambient lighting and a panoramic sunroof.

Also on the list are a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 14.8-inch vertical infotainment touchscreen, head-up display, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, eight Sony speakers, auto-dimming rear-view mirror, ‘boss switches’ for the front passenger seat, heated/ventilated front seats with memory, keyless entry, remote start with cabin climate pre-conditioning and rear privacy glass, among other items.

Both AWD and 2WD variants come with a 1.6-litre turbo-four with 194 hp and 290 Nm of torque, hooked up to a seven-speed wet dual-clutch automatic gearbox. The front-wheel drive version is seven tenths quicker to the 100 km/h mark at 9.2 seconds, yet another plus point. Last month, Jaecoo launched the J7 PHEV, which you can read about here.

Poor tires, damaged after hitting Malaysian favorite pot holes. Wondering whether Sirim approved their tires. Think twice before buying
