Perodua Myvi reaches one million unit milestone

Perodua Myvi reaches one million unit milestone

It’s finally happened, Perodua has managed to produce its one millionth Myvi, just 12 years after the model was first introduced in May 2005.

“The Perodua Myvi has set a new standard for us in terms of products offerings as well as customer expectations and it is our benchmark for all our future models,” said Perodua president and CEO, Datuk Aminar Rashid Salleh.

To mark the momentous milestone, Perodua held a special line-off ceremony for the Electric Blue-painted Myvi, which was officiated by Perodua Auto Corporation (PCSB) president Masanori Takahashi and PCSB vice president Datuk Zainal Abidin Ahmad.

According to Perodua, 35,400 of the one million units have been exported to markets outside Malaysia since 2006. These include Mauritius, Brunei, Singapore, the United Kingdom, Fiji, Nepal and Indonesia, with the last being Perodua’s biggest export market with nearly 31,000 units (known as the Daihatsu Sirion there).

Congratulations to Perodua for producing more than 1 million MyVi’s.You’ve definitely came a long way from when you first started manufacturing the Kancil back in the 90’s.Maybe you should consider adding safety equipments (eg: VSC,HSA and EBD,perhaps more airbags too) to all Perodua vehicles?

Amazing. One company, they work hard. They follow Japanese principle of focus, dedication and hard work. The company makes so much of money.

Another company, follow the principle of lepak, rilaks and minum teh 8x with kuih lapis. This company loses Rm4 mil per day and just announced RM1.46 billion in losses for last year and has sucked over RM20 billion the past 20 years.

Which principle do you want to follow?

Perodua does well because their management believe in their cars. Datuk Aminar himself drives a Bezza and Datin drives a Myvi.

Proton on the other hand, management and directors none use Proton cars. Even in their homes you see Porsche, Mercedes and BMW parked but got no Proton. Even company cars are Audi A8L

This shows why Perodua does well. They build the cars and they believe in what they build.

Proton management and directors, really memalulan. They tell people to buy Proton cars but sendiri never use Proton cars themselves.

Perodua sold the Myvi for 12 years with only cosmetic changes. Same engines. same gearbox, same technology. Nothing to be proud of Perodua. You should be ashamed of peddling the same car for 12 years. Please retire this model instead of trumpeting how long you have sold it. Shall we have a 15th Anniversary of Myvi celebration in 3 years time?

This means there are 1 million Myvis without VSC on our roads.

Malaysian Government already said, if all cars had VSC, 45% of all accidents and deaths can be prevented. So, if there are 10,000 deaths in a year, we can save 4500 lives if all cars had VSC

The best part is, VSC was made compulsory and a legal requirement in Europe 12 years ago. This is the year Perodua was born. So for 12 years after that, Perodua REFUSED to give Malaysians VSC

Also, the same Passo and Sirion in Japan had VSC the past 12 years.

Why does UMW aka gomen owned always forgo the safety of Malaysians?

  • for me this is sad to see so many cars on the roads causing accidents all over the country and take away precious human life off the road forever. please stop making this kind of afforadable car but poor safety standard.

safety standard is the not main concern here, the main issue is the drivers themselves…

everyday u see reckless drivers speeding like crazy and making turns without signals…

most accidents happen due to drivers’ stupidity and act of recklessness.. dont blame the car

Bro, at least Perodua have the “cheap” RM25k car that have a roof to keep you from getting wet & keep you warm or cool not to mention can carry groceries when you go to supermarket.

Most accidents/deaths are by motorcycles. If you drive according to speed limits, you & family can arrive at your destination safely VSC or no VSC.

If you must know, Proton Saga already achieved 1 millionth unit quite some time ago. Wira almost 1 million @ 950k something.

New one harder to achieve since people basically hates Proton now.

Thumb up 1 Thumb down 0
    • Proton already done that with their Wira model. Proton latest production’s unit count stands around 3.5 million units.

  • Perodua should really not shout about the “Indonesian exports of the Myvi”; they’re Daihatsus over there. You don’t hear Toyota shout about Camry’s global sale numbers and include units sold in Australia as Holdens back in the 90s. Neither will Suzuki or Honda shout about Ertiga and Accord numbers and include Proton’s sale numbers, no matter how low they are…

Also, the water temperature gauge need to be retained as well (other than Myvee, all other current P2 models doesn’t have it, just a stupid cheap blue and red light). At least with proper gauge, it can give you ample time to stop the car safely once it start overheating (where the gauge reaches more than 3 quarter mark) rather than waiting the red light to flash out where by that time, high chances the engine or even the whole car got burned/condemned due to engine gasket already fried.

at the beginning, everyone buy protong, and laugh at perodua…until MyVi.
From business standpoint, have to say Perodua made a decision that changed the company.
Although the car safety issue is questionable, and reckless drivers in MyVi..still Peroduce introduce a product that welcome but the market…
    congrats.
